must read if your dragon 800 SUCKS!!!!

O

OLD GOAT

Well-known member
there is an attorney I found on internet who has started a class action lawsuit against Polaris for the owners of the P.O.S. they call the 800 dragon/rmk/assault. His name is paul gertz, Glenwood springs, co, 1-970-384 1910... paralegal who is handling this is named Ashley.

I talked with them the end of last season. She just contacted me again last week. Here is the email she sent...

Dear Jordan:

This is a general email that will be sent to all persons who called regarding their Polaris snowmobile(s).

With that being said, we would appreciate and update from you:

(1) Have you had your sled repaired?
If they will not take your sled, please give a brief description of the reason why.

(2) What were the dates of repair?
Or you can just provide me copies of the invoices.

(3) Do you have or can you get the “bad” parts from your sled(s)?

Thank you for your cooperation and concern in this case.

Sincerely yours,

Dont know if this is good or not. Could make polaris stop trying to fix the problems they have.

Burr don't worry they have covered there bases just fine! Not to metion I'm pretty sure PO legal team has gotten pretty good over the last 5 years since the 2005 conFUSION and so on!

They have already been trying to do that. Polaris uses any excuse to void the warranty even if the parts are completely unrelated to the failure.

Must love getting screwed huh? The lawyer is in it for the m oney they'll make which will be more than what you end up with. Good luck.

yeah polaris sucks thats why they came out with a piston and head update with a reprogram because people don't know how to ride a 2 stroke. they really should be sitting back and not do a thing. get a clue. go buy a toyota

There is no doubt the lawyer sees dollar signs. $$$$$$ However, no one could even think to try to do something like that on their own. Which is why class action suits exist. This isn't necessarily a bad thing. It is Polaris's technology or lack their of that is the reason for this in the first place.
So, Polaris has enough money to purchase Swiss auto Power Sports in Burgdorf, Switzerland today, but they don't have the finances to take care of their customers? I agree with the purchase as they obviously need some help with their motors, but at some point you have to take responsibility for your actions. The CEO salary alone could take care of every unhappy 800 owner on the planet.
Sometimes you really need to put yourself in the other persons shoes. There are some great running sleds out there, but there is also a very high ratio of those that don't. There are people on here that have never in 3 years had their sled running properly. Polaris has all but given up on them. Where is a person supposed to turn when the manufacture won't help and you have over $10,000 invested in something that doesn't work right?
Polaris has had every opportunity to do the right thing and should have openly returned any consumers sled that was not satisfied with the product. I'm sorry, but from a proper customer service standpoint Polaris should have saved face and done the right thing. They are way beyond updates and recalls at this point. I just had a customer tonight tell me about another one that has been down 4 times.
You have to understand that you own sleds that aren't even assembled to Polaris so called specifications right from the factory. In 08-09 the piston to cylinder clearance was beyond the acceptable tolerance when it left the assembly line. This is clearly printed in their shop manual. They shouldn't even be allowed to do that. Gees there is a government agency or law for everything else, you would think they would have one to cover that kind of stuff too. Trust me I've found more than that assembled wrong right out of the crate on my sled and they won't own up to it.
When you buy a toaster at target and you get it home and it doesn't work you return it. Some of these sleds should have long been returned. Taking it in and getting new pistons and a new flash 2-3X per season and major inconveniences caused by all of it. Who will stand up and take responsibility? The consumer or the manufacture? Sorry, in no way am I trying to start argument with anyone. I just know exactly how many of the owners feel about their expensive purchase along with all the stress it has caused knowing you are pretty much on your own.

I agree with Monte on this one. I think I have been one of the unfortunate ones who has had to deal with a sled that really only ran good for about 350 miles. Had it not been for this forum and a good dealer, I probably would have ditched mine long ago. I finally got mine running decent for one ride the last time I rode. I would like to think that it will continue to do so, but I am not holding my breath. On the flip side, I have two friends who own 08 800 dragons and have had very few issues. I wonder if there is anyone on this forum who has actually worked in the facility where these sleds are built. I think as a consumer in our minds we all envision these sleds being built to really tight tolerances and we all go away happy. Obviously this isn't the case. I have this picture in my head of the poor guys who end up with the sleds that have to be finished at x time on a friday, and the people who work there just half assing it to get them out the door. Could these be the ones that are causing so much trouble? Or is it just the luck of the draw? Either way, for the money people spend on these machines, and the situations that they are MARKETED to be in, they need to be reliable. Lawsuits take forever to put together, but maybe if one does finally get through it will open the eyes of the right people.

X2

My '09 800 Switchback literally took the fun out of snowmobiling for me, I'm really getting sick and tired of it.

I agree Polaris needs a wake up message! Unfortunately the law firm will eat up about 75% of any class action law suit in fees & costs and then get all of the registered owners who reply to there mailer $100 certificate and a $500 rebate if you buy another sled from Polaris. It will be a joke and no real answer for all of the IQCFI owners who have had problems. I have to wonder if there are more salvage IQs at the salvage pool auctions then any other late model sleds though? Just my 0.02 cents. Will we feel better getting the butter stick from the law firm over Polaris since they will be getting it too?

I personally Know of 5 people in my area that have 800's and have no issues 3 2010's and 2 2008's and mine has the lowest miles at 400 my only complaint is that it is alittle under powered for a 800 plugs are black 8200rpm 68G weights at 1200ft it dont go like I think an 800 should feels like 130hp but runs good all stock with ethanol wire plugged in

Well,

I have one of the D8's that ran like crap since new in 07 (snowcheck model). Have had every flash, top end, and fix, suggested for Low alt. Alaska riders since new, not to add the number of times I have been stuck in BAD places because of the sled.

This last flash and update seem to do the trick. However, it doesn't have the same snap and it did when new. As everyone has seen from the dyno charts we are down to the mid 140s.

I paid 11k for a 154hp sled. Not a 145 hp one. I'm happy it's running good now, but want my hp back. Shouldn't have to buy a PC V to get it either.

Just my $.02

been working on something to fix that rich stuff..without buying anything..give me some time to finish testing....

Wtf

Screw this place, you want me to pay to listen to this? Who's going to pay for my therapy? You all bought 800s that were based on the 440 lower end, what did you expect?
I have purchased my last new Polaris.
And as for the SW forum, this place is getting lamer by the day.

:face-icon-small-dis

And I loved Polaris,:brokenheart: oh well.
