Muddy Creek Parking (Rabbit Ears Pass)

:DOTE=backcountryislife;413929]c'mon folks, be part of the solution, not the problem.

BUY A SLED DECK, lose the stupid trailer.

(oh yeah, I just happen to have a few for sale!!!)

And if you need to drive a camper, maybe you should find a closer place to ride!!!!:p

Come on Kaleb, that is pretty self righteous. . . Maybe we will park in your driveway:D[/QUOTE]

Hey, self righteous or not, I bought a house 3 minutes from where I ride!! (oh yeah, and I live there.) Got a place in boat too, but it's not worth being there on the weekends!

I get sick of seeing all the cheesed*cks with their HUGE campers trying to prove how much $$ they have, Chris, Bushy, and a bunch of others camp all the time, park reasonably & cause no problems, the stupid 50 ft mobile homes have no business on the roads in the winter, much less taking up ALL the parking in a place that's tight as it is anyhow.

little peter=big motor home & even bigger trailer, gotta compensate somehow!:D

Would two rigs and 6 to 12 people please volunteer to stay home so these 2 folks have a place to park their 80 feet worth of rig! Oh, I forgot about the 80 foot side yard they need for all their crap. Two more rigs worth of volunteers please:D MC lot is not a campground and it's a real privelege to be able to camp overnight there. Be sensible about how much space you are hogging per person or that privelege will probably go away. Maybe they should charge fees based on how much space your using and that number would triple when you get into the realm of the ridiculous (like two people taking up 2000 square feet) Family discounts apply:D

I think they should charge by how old your rig is, if that was the case you could probably make some money Paul by the FS paying you..... :D
This thread is getting old... The people who can't park right aren't able to read either so what good is this thread??

so does that mean no orange vest and no tape measurer? We could change the sash to spelling bee champion if you prefer.

I was giving you a little razzing. Didn't mean to hurt your feelings. I apologize.

If the people that ride the ears joined the routt powder riders we would have more power to try and get more parking and/or improve what little we have. The city of Steamboat wants to make the lakes up there closed to snowmobiles because of water issues. The club is always fighting these battles to keep it open to riding.

Maybe the club needs to advertise better. I don't ever see any flyers or notices in Kremmling, where I live. There is no club in Kremmling. PM me some info.

Thanks,
PJ

no apologies necessary. I just think its funny you post this complaint up every single year like it's going to do any good. all the way back to the sledcity days you have pitched fits about parking at the ears. Time to let er die, Chilax and go ride

PJ and Backcountryislife - We own a 36' RV and park responsibly. We started camping there when nobody else did. Since that time, it has become out of control, especially with slides on campers. Those are the inconsiderate ones. We pull a 2 place trailer, not a huge 4 place. PJ, what disappointments me is you bashing all of us with RV's except the small setups. Kaleb, good for you for being able to work and live in the mountains. That doesn't give you special priviledges. As I stated, we had similar problems at MC a few years ago on New Years Eve, people saving places, wouldn't move, slides sticking out in the roadway, one guys trailer actually hit the azzhats slide, it wasn't plowed and they tried to pick a fight with us when we got on them about opening up the roadway. So we have been there.

As far as joining Routt Powder Riders, when I was club president, we did a membership drive to help fight the land closures up there. We delivered applications and checks to them, they NEVER deposited them. They don't want people from Denver joining their club.

Why can't we all just get along!

Must've been somebody else. This is my first post about parking and I was never on Sledcity. You have me confused with somebody else. Lots of locals around here have computers and internet access!

C'MON, by now you should know I just like picking on you citiots!!!! (oh, sorry, I mean urban living types, or is it alternate lifestyle? I can never remember)

I hate cities, but most of my friends seem to be from them, so it takes some of the fun out of razzing "you people"!

I really do dislike the big rigs, but when you live in a sh*thole, I guess you gotta get away sometimes, huh? I've got an extra room, you're welcome to crash here if you need to get away!

PJ here's a idea for you. Why don't you talk to the forest service and see if they will post a set of rules for the parking lots. This will let everyone that parks in these lots know the rules up front and avoid a lot of problems in the future.

Posting the rules won't help. There are far too many people that feel that the rules don't apply to them. The boudries around here are fairly well marked but you still see people riding out of bounds. Often right past the signs. There seems to be a sense of entitlement and selfessness that has pervaded our sport over the years and too many riders are only concerned about the quality of thier own experience. Inconsiderate parking, dumping trash, loud pipes, riding out of bounds. Pick a soapbox, it's all the same "screw you / I don't care what you think" attitude.

I'm not bashing you or your husband individually. If you park responsibly, good for you. Maybe you can give lessons. I was talking about the big, bus style RVs (there were 3 or 4 in the MC lot this last weekend) with the 4 place trailers. No need to pick on the little guys such as Yammerhammer, Bushmaster or Sled Skiing, they park at the West end, well out of people's way. Apparently The Powder Riders don't want Kremmling folks in the club either.

If somebody reads something they don't like, they ignore it. Signs in that place would be moot. CDOT would destroy them, just like anything else that gets in their path.

Hey bud, It's Berthoud falls, Berthoud is down the hill.

No, I was Born in a town called Merrimac, about the same size.

If we're comparing classy from a nice mountain town to that hole called Denver, it's not a fair fight, give up now!!!:lips:

If you go to http://routtpowderriders.com/ it should have everything you need to join and people to contact with any issue on the ears. I am not saying the club is perfect or the best, but it is a good way to keep the lots open, try to get expansion, or new lots as they deal with the forest service often. I doubt they turn down members, but I have been wrong before.

Ewww, you live in a town with neighbors:rolleyes: to be a really rugged look down your nose Mtn. snob you have to have acreage on a mtn top with deer carcass' laying about and lion prints in the snow out back, barbwire on barefeet for traction, uphill both ways, live in a hole in the dirt etc etc....Don't be foolin yourself now:p

Rob, i'd be happy to join the Routt riders, but in all practicality it would be mostly a donation of membership fees, but i'd gladly do that. I belong to the Blizzards on the N. Front Range area and I think the best way I can serve the sledding community is by participating in my local club. All these clubs belong to the State Association and we do collaborate with other clubs all the time, so joining any club is a boost to all the clubs, regardless of where you ride.

But I can't afford that acreage, that's why I've got to be jealous of the big rigs, I can't aford them either!!!

OOOH, OOOH, I've got the deer carcasses though, does that count??!:D
