Mtn. Top Snowbikes

Teal thanks for the riot comparison.. that's the gold standard in my book to compare to. The riot is an inch narrower and it would matter a bit climbing in soft snow. Im not surprised the rising rear arm lifts the ski easier than a riot. I built one like that and it did crazy stuff. It sounds like a small change in air pressure will be nice to dial in your ride preference. I hope people won't bash it like the riot for poor handling when they aren't even willing to adjust the strut rod. Did you write the review in April and keep it secret until Allen said go? My memory of April is pretty foggy and I really wish I kept better tuning notes for the chassis changes I'm going to make for this next season.

The idea of a mtb brake is really compelling. Whatshisname was correct in saying it has way better feel and modulation. But the brakes he spec'd are a wild choice. He went with 2 piston brakes meant for low travel (mostly xc) bikes when 4 pistons are readily available and not much more $. I wouldn't put those Hayes 2 pistons on my mtb.

It does make me wonder if the DH brakes could work for a sled tho. A Shimano Saint or Sram Code brake would be real nice

Brake power will be fine. Imagine a mountain bike with a 6 inch diameter wheel and a 6 inch diameter disk. It will stop you just fine. The question is going 50mph down a chute in the spring it might not shed heat fast enough. I've boiled my Sleds this way with a brake on the jack shaft. The saving grace for 4 stroke guys is engine braking that Sleds don't have.

This was based off of memory. Had to rewrite a few times as the details came back to me. The Mtn. Top crew was pretty adamant that i rode it in one of my riding areas, which definitely helped with the comparison.

I've since written down tuning notes so I can dial things in quickly once it snows.

Clearly bears a resemblance to the OG TS. The obvious questions are: rail spacing, weight, track dimensions, ski design. It looks like it rides like a Riot. What is the plan for the dealer network? Awesome to have another choice.

What is "OG" also referenced in the video.

Cool kit, glad he is back building kits, how-ever the brakes are sketch, mtb brakes are always so fiddly compared to mx brakes. Although will still work better then the old other brand lol.

Anyone other than brand ambassadors taken delivery of an XFR129 yet? Hoping to have mine before Christmas!

MTN.Top has a strap/bracket setup that is supposed work with all fuel cans. Not sure when it will be available or what it involves. If that does not work out for any reason we will use the mountain addiction 3.3 can and ratcheting straps with existing holes in the side tunnel. Picture attached (The bike on the left) is set up that way except with two 1.3 cans. The ARO/Riot tunnel is 1/2" narrower. The back strap is for a pelican case. Both have the fuel can rubber mat material underneath. (y)

Does anyone know if the Mtn. Top Ski is available separately? I saw somewhere that the ski will work on a TS spindle and that it is suppose to be a great ski on and off trail. Would like to try it.

Yes, the ski is available and should be in stock at dealers already... I have a few, if you'd like one - send me a message.

This is the single most ambassador / sponsored post I have ever seen or experienced. You are almost all guilty, everyone one of you say was a 3" is game changer, narrow track balanced 11" wide ski/track combo carves like none other. And now an old design slightly improved is somehow better then a 3". lol.

Or you don’t actually understand the changes made?

Maybe ride one before calling out others who have?
