It's out!

I need to get in contact with someone who rides Mt Baker during this week. I had to leave my sled up there as we weren't able to tow it out due to the deep snow, tried for 2 hours. Thanks to the guys that helped (TurboKeith and others, THANKS for trying!!!).
I guess I need someone to let me know when the snow firms up enough to be able to get it out, I can take a day off work when the snow is right. Could also use some help if anyone is up for a little workout, I'll buy the beer!
Not sure what failed, 100% stock engine, lean burndown on PTO and then something came apart, engine won't turn over. Helicopter is a little pricey for me, that will be a last resort. Open to ideas!! Thanks- Paul-

Where abouts on Baker? The forcast is calling for lots more snow. Did ya mark it on the GPS??

No smart assin intended, but conditions will most likely worsen over the next few days. Depending on where your at, there may be some alternate routes outta there.

Graveler calls in fom the Cadman dinner

Graveler said to call in a chopper for this job. My suggestion is to use MOB since he doesn't work for anything but beer. Need a turbo Apex to pull that pig out? What kind of sled do you have?

I can help Paul, let me know, I have a extra sled if you need it to go up there

AJ--It is same as mine was last year--Horse Corral.

Fordman--There was a turbo Yamaha hooked to him--No Go.

Paul--as discussed at Steel Dreams--I am on call--except Monday or Tuesday.

Bummer--I know the feeling of having to leave a sled there:(.

we just got a friends sled out of something you can not be towed up. We just used a 400 ft. rope and a pulley. We would bury the track of a sled and hook a pully up to it, then another sled would drive down hooked up to the rope. works pretty good.

Hey guys,
Do you have a friend that has the same engine as you in their sled, sled engines are fairly easy to take out, it can be a chore on the hill but its better than losing your sled. Someone will steal your sled. Or get 4 or 5 of your friends, go up there take apart your sled it is very easy to tow a sled backwards without a track and rear susp. on it. makes it very light. read about the engine swap rescue in snowwest. But I have taken a sled apart to get it out if the mountains before.

Thanks guys. The engine swap on the hill is an option, I might be able to scrape up a crate engine if I sweet talk a dealer. The crappy weather forecast (crappy for sled recovery) doesn't look good. A little sun and a cold morning like a week ago would make it easy!
Does anyone know a good method of towing a sled without a rider to steer? there is alot of uneven terrain before getting to the road, only about 1/2 mile but all uphill. Right now that snow just doesn't pack down and was knee-waist deep.
And yes.....it was a Ski-Doo...'07 Rev.

Hey guys,
Someone will steal your sled.

Who is going to steal it where it is--Mine was there for a week last year--no one bothered it--in fact lots of people packed trail to help us get it out--awesome support from the riders up there.

It is insured---I beleive that is what he said to me.

We can get it out-I have rope and two snatch blocks just for this purpose(when I needed it last year in the same place)-It is just easier if the snow conditions would set up--but does not look like it is going to do that--so looks like several people and Mr Prez has a chainsaw winch--we will see what Winterbrew decides.

Anyone own a Huey??

hey brew, if you can get your hands on a good snatch block and even 200 ft of good climbers rope..she will come right out with 1 sled....hook the rope on the dead sled and take it up hill...10 ft from the end bury a sled..or find a rock, tree to use for anchor..hook snatch block to it and hook to sled pointed downhill at broke sled...drive down hill until dead sled reaches block...reset and redo it...block gives twice the pull power and slope angle on downhill sled matches resistance of dead sled...easiest way short of a chopper....

Anyone have the numbers for the heli services in that area? Looking at the weather and new snow on the way, unless I want to wait at least another week that may be the only way to get it out. A couple guys to ride in and tow it down hill to the open area about 100yds away and I would think a heli could get it there. Then I suppose I would need another guy at the snopark to unhook??? Man, this sucks!

To bad there isn't a big sled or taboggin(sp) to put the sled on and tow that out????

I heard the chopper in Darrington will do it for $500. But it was a crazy guy that told me that.

Paul---He will want it right on top of the horse corral--I beleive 100 foot clearence all the way around. Call Mr Prez.(Mike, guy with chainsaw winch)--You got his number up at Steel Dreams right??

H20SKE...

Yes, I have Mike's number. Getting it back down to the Corrall wouldn't be too bad.
The route out has very few trees, would be towable with the right snow conditions.

Mike has the local choppers phone number. But looking at the weather--I think that option may have dissappeared for at least a day or two.
