Moving to Bismarck...looking for housing and riding partners!

Hey everyone,

Just thought I would throw this out there and see what kind of responses I get. I recently just graduated from College with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and got a job with Bobcat in Bismarck ND. I am currently looking for a house to rent with a garage so I can work on the toys. If anyone has any info it would be greatly appreciated.

I also plan on making a number of trips out west next winter so I'll be looking for people to ride with! I can hold my own on the hill so no need to worry about me slowing your group down. Below is a video me and some of my buddies put together from riding in the U.P.of Michigan (where we went to school) so check it out and get in touch with me if you would be interested in riding!

I also love to fish and hunt so I'll be looking for people to do that with over the summer.

Thanks in advance for any help!

I can't help you with the house but can with the riding. I am also an engineer and worked at Bobcat at one point in my career too. Who you working with and in what group? I made 4 trips out west this last year and am always looking for another person to go with. I am done for this year but I will put you on my list of people to look up next year. For sure join the snowmobile club too, you will find lots of people to ride with there. My name is Judd.

Oh and if you do need a place to work on your sled let me know. I am always in the mood for wrenching.

Judd, I am going to be working in the advanced analysis under Andy Wehsler however he is out of Gwinner and I am not sure who my direct manager will be in Bismarck. I
plan on getting out west a lot next year and I am also planning on buying a turbo this summer so I will have plenty of opportunity for some wrenching in the garage. I don't know if I can put up with riding with a bunch of ski doo riders though :face-icon-small-ton. Haha just teasing, it will be great to have some riding partners for the winter!

I will definitely have to join the snowmobile club out there and I will check out the Facebook page too. Thanks a lot for the replies!

Are the local dealers out there pretty good? I am looking to get rid of my 11 rmk and buy a 13 for the turbo. Are the dealers out there good to work with?

as far as dealers its a hit and miss thing.. not very many of us have had good luck.. some have... i myself will not spend a dollar at the local polaris dealership..

hopefully bobcat has better people running it now than it did before they closed their doors a few years back. i worked for them back then for a while when i was in college. they had the most piss poor management i have ever seen in a larger scale company. i wish you the best though! where are you moving to bismarck from?

I have been really impressed with Bobcat so far just in what i have experiemced with their h.r. and the interview process, and that is comparing with companies like polaris, caterpillar, cummins, and even a few others. But its always hard to tell what a company is like based on how their h.r. is so hopefully I have a good experience with them. They are making a new engineering facility in bismarck so it will be nice to eventually work in a brand new facility.

I grew up near st. Cloud mn so not too far away. I really love the Midwest for its hunting and fishing but absolutely love riding the mountains so I thought Bismarck might be a good mix between the two. Time will tell I Spose...

I've heard some pretty bad stories about the mandan poo dealer and every other dealer in the bismarck area to be honest. If you're willing to drive a little bit I would say herried sporting center would be your closest dealer that is good. They also install a lot of boondocker turbos.

Ryan I just saw the new video, nice work! So you are getting a turbo huh? Winter is just around the corner and I will look you up once we go west, one of the first two weekends of every month is the plan.

BTW you might work with a buddy of mine. Eric Satrom?
