mountain addiction not as secure as i thought

Has anyone ever had one of there mountain addiction gas jugs come off the brackets? I lost my 3.3 gal jug that was full of fuel and the pin that secures the jug was still in place. I was hitting some very rough mugols, but rode all season without any issues. Luckly I was able to backtrack a couple miles and find the jug.

90% of the time the reason they come off is because they swell up from heat. When they swell the track in the jug becomes odd shaped and can come off. They used to come with little breather plugs that you could release the pressure in them, now they don't. Just keep an eye on them and make sure that your jug is not getting pressurized, it doesn't need to be in direct sun to happen. The other issue is some people put them on and only hook one rail, you would think this is noticeable but seen it a ton. Make sure it is on both rails and that your cans are not pressurized or swollen looking.

I just purchased my setup this winter, sounds like maybe a pressure issue. It was a fairly warm spring day so maybe it pressurizes, I'll be sure and watch this from now on. That's prob the problem, I usually make sure I always get the fug secure to both rails. Thanks for the info

Just buy the QRS system never here of them falling off. Or buy a etech that don't need extra fuel haha

have heard the falling off issue is only on the large can, the two smaller ones stay on better with heat expansion.

Do you guys ride with your gas?? always drop it in a accessible spot to dump in for the ride out.

Never had a prob

I've never had any probs. Jumping, roll-overs etc. Never had an issue?

I've never had an issue either. I think a lot of the problem some may be experiencing is due to the nylon mounts not being installed correctly. They need to be perfectly parallel and evenly spaced which takes a little time and a few tweaks to get them perfect. The cans should not be loose, they need to fit snug.

I found a full can on the trail. It was a white one i almost ran over. Sounds like more of a problem than i thought with their system!!!!

Just bought the 1.3 gallon and rail system for the Rmk pro. Installed it and checked it today and I could lift the sled off my lift. The mounting system was lifting off the tunnel.
Seems to work well, real world riding will tell.

My nephew lost one of the small ones in the Snowys a couple of years ago, so yes, it happens! I replaced my large tank for two smaller ones because of the expansion problem!

Mountain Addiction has provided a setup to Highcountry Octane for this season. It will be mounting on multiple different sleds under "extreme" conditions. Big drops, technical trees and hillclimbs, rollovers, nasty trail moguls .... I say with confidence they're customer support and support for our Industry is top notch! A family run business and they treat you as such! Have you contacted them for help with your issue? As the season rolls... Will try to remember to update this thread with feedback. If I can remember this thread! Still waiting for first tracks!

???

just put a bungee cord over it.

I didn't pay good money to have an ugly strap holding it down! I think install plays a huge part in the security/function of this setup. If you can't put mounting hardware in the middle because of the heat exchanger, be sure not to tighten the bolts at the ends to tight or the rails bow up. I think this is the reason guys are losing there cans? JMO, call me crazy.
