I bought a pair of the Motorfist WOT gloves and had an issue with a seam.
I took them to my dealer and they called Motorfist, no questions asked they sent out a new pair.
Nice to see a manufacturer stand behind their product like that!
Also loving my Motorfist bibs and Jacket

Returned my Motorfist WOT gloves back to Walt Healy in Calgary with no problems. The seams split between thumb and forefinger on both gloves. They went to the rack, grabbed a new pair and said have a nice day. You don't get service or warrenty like that anymore. Thanks Motorfist.

I wont purchase MF. Heard he tried to screw his partner at Klim. I was told owner of MF was part owner or financial backer of Klim then tried to take it over and leave his partner with nothing. Again this is just what I was told and you know how gossip is. But until I hear otherwise from credible source I will stay away. Besides Klim warranties or repairs everything from what I heard. It is a shame klim is all made in China now. Not sure where MF is made?

Prepare yourself for the longest post in SW history. But it needs to be said and I feel like writing today. Someone emailed me this link to this thread and this time I let out an ughhh. I probably get 5 of these requests a week on what me and Klim were about. Like a re-run of the Lawernce Welk show I would just tune it out. But for this time, for some reason I will answer it.

I am the MF owner that was a partner and founder with Klim you are referring to. There is a lot of ideas, gossip or smoke signals from many tepees on this. I have never addressed it. But enough moons have passed and I think I need to set the record straight.

I was a partner in Klim before it was Klim. It was called Teton Outfitters then a ski company. We needed cash to fund the new sled biz, Klim. The current owner of Klim wanted me to come up with more money but without offering more ownership in the company. If I remember right he didn’t want to come up with equal amounts of cash. Without more ownership and more of my sweat equity into the company I left. I felt like if that's the way it was why would I stay if we would have this battle over and over again. I didn’t hate him. I just felt like it would be a problem for a long time.

And I literally left…like we didn’t fight about it. I walked out the door one day and got a shake and went home. Shed a few tears that so much work ended that way. Once I knew I had no concession from him I didn’t want a fight or anything. We tried to work it out but in the end I would end up with less for more effort and cash.

That is from the horse’s mouth.

I think people have said I have a vengeance for Klim. I did a number of things since Klim that truly burned me. My experience there left me hurt and I missed those I worked with there. Some of the folks there I hired or interviewed that are still there. But to say I felt “screwed” or something wasn’t the case.

In 2009 Josh Skinner was distributing ToBE gear. He wanted to make some gear and thought I could help. I said no initially because I knew if I did all the emotions and gossip would start that I wanted to damage Klim. And I had a pile of others things/businesses/irons in the fire you name it.

But months went by. I loved the garment biz. So I caved like a fat kid for cake. So I thought I would make a boutique brand of clothing and that would be it. Maybe just USA made gear for the select few. Not competeing with Klim and avoid the whole mess.

Well…. that idea lasted for about 1 show. We were taking money for MF gear at shows when we didn’t have any gear there! MF exploded and I have been trying to catch up with it since.

The hardest part of the biz has been dealing with all the people feeling I hate Klim or that there is something there. That's the truth.

I had a 3 or 5 year non-compete agreement with Klim. When that expired I didn’t start something. That was years ago. If I were after vengeance I would have started then.

In fact without Klim none of you would know what waterproof breathability is. There would be insulated puffball gear that you would be wearing and sweating your…ya…things off with. You would be wearing poor quality OEM gear and waving the OEM flag. Klim is probably the biggest success story in the sled biz in recent memory.

The folks there that have been there from the beginning know what hell it takes to make what they do and put up with what they do. I left Klim about the time the first season was over. I have had to do it twice now (launch a brand). It is a hard row to hoe (not the street corner hoe type) to start a garment biz.

If I would have stayed at Klim it would be a bigger deal than it is because there would have been two of us hitting it hard. I have proven I can start a brand from scratch. There aren’t many that have done it and if I were there we would have had 2 people with the same drive and passion executing dreams. It just didn’t happen.

On the bible, I did not start MF to throw stones at Klim. I didn’t fully anticipate the public perception that I was after them either. IT turned out to be a way bigger deal than I ever thought it would.

But the fact is I curl up with my teddy bear at night and sleep peacefully. We are basically from the same town as Klim and I see their guys and chat sometimes. Last week I spent 30 minutes or so in their booth in Indy. There were no fists or spit wads to be found.

So. That’s my story. If you want quality gear and a dry butt wear MF or Klim. You get what you pay for. Even if it’s all made in China :. )

Nice post. I have moslty Klim gear now, a buddy has Motorfist and loves it. So, when the time comes when my Klim gear wears out, I will try Motorfist. Besides, competition is good for us consumers! :face-icon-small-hap

made in USA

I know I will get the same lame *** argument about a "global economy", but I wish someone would at least give me the option to buy made in USA snowmobile clothing. I find it hard to believe that it is that hard to find a manufacturer in this great country of ours that wouldn't be up to the challenge. Also, don't give me the price argument, when I see American companies that do or did have facilities in the US send their manufacturing to china but the price of their goods does not come down. Never mind that everybody complains about US manufacturers polluting the air, but turn a blind eye to how much worse china is. Sorry about the rant, but I am just getting tired with the whole thing. It's not that you can't make money using American workers, it's that you can't make MORE for you money. I am not directing this only at MF, it is just my observation.

I think you just got set straight. That being said, I just bought the Rekon Bibs and the Sidehill Jacket. I love them. The jacket had the stitching blow out on the front pocket. I called and spoke to a wonderfully friendly lady named Carrie. She sent me a "loaner" jacket that upon arrival I found that it was brand spanking new, for me to use while mine is being repaired. KLiM won't do that. I mean, just send out a new $350 jacket for my use, who does that? So, I have the WOT gloves and I have abused them, no damage, hands stay warm and dry. Only thing I wish that they had was that leather treatment waxy, oily stuff to work into the leather. But they are great. I have used them on the coldest of days and stayed warm. Light enough to feel my throttle and very durable.
My repaired jacket will be as good as new and I'll send them the new one back. Another regret is me not buying their Stomper Boot, I bought the KLim GTX instead. I couldn't find my size in the MF boot and couldn't give up a weekend cuz of boots, so I bought the KLiM.

They are an awesome company and have stepped up huge on other sites and done things that they didn't need to do. I'm 110% impressed.

No wouldn't say I was "set straight", I think we heard another side of the story. And it is great to hear it from the owner of MF not "gossip".

Moving on...I find it hard believe the Rekon jacket would be $800 if made in the USA. My understanding is that Klim used to be all made in the USA. Arcteryx, which is a very successful outdoor clothing company was made in Vancouver for years until it was bought out and then moved to China. IMO Chinese manufacturing is a decision made by the owners to increase margins.

Motorist customer service and products are top notch.

I absolutely love my Motorfist gear. I have never been dryer. Right after I got my gear I had a problem with a zipper on my bibs. I called Motorfist and was greeted and treated very very well on the phone. They sent me a brand new pair that arrived the next day without receiving mine first. I didn't miss any riding. My pair was repaired quickly and was just like new.

More recently I had a problem with my WOT gloves. A seam tore out. I sent them out And received a brand new pair very quickly.

I cannot speak for owning Klim gear, but all of my riding buddies wear Klim and it is exceptional gear also.

If you want quality snowmobile gear made in the USA, the only brand I know of is Mountain Addiction out of Wenatchee WA. Their gear is made in Yakima WA and it is in limited production this year with full production scheduled to start next year.

To stay on topic of Motorfist gear, it is quality gear and they are a great company with outstanding employees.
