Motorcycle Causes Avalanche

Not bad footage at all.
Thank-You for posting.
Not too often someone gets such a front row seat after triggering an avalanche.
You had good luck this day.

Joe

Majority of sled lines were straight up and down. Your long sidehill crossed multiple trigger points, thus breaking loose unstable cohesive snow layers. Unfortunately we lost a snowbike rider in Feb. after he and his friend cut a long sidehill through a burnt timber slope. Glad you wear out of the slide path and able to descend safely. Thanks for the video.

I'm sorry to hear about your friend. Where did that happen?

You are correct too, the sled lines were straight up and down. We, on snowbikes, need to be mindful that we can do things that most snowmobilers can't - like sidehill an entire mountain side. I know I will definitely be more mindful of that.

That's interesting that the slab didn't break along your track line(?). Thanks for posting it up, close call....

The slide I referred to was just off of skyland road near the continental divide in northwestern montana.

I was just thinking the very same thing.....

That is very interesting video. I have not seen one where you are not actually a part of the avalanche as you set it.....

Glad you were not part of it.........

Its called remote triggering. The sign of a very unstable snow pack. thanks for the vid.
