motor stamp on the 800R update off 07 rev's

how can I tell my 07 does have the 08 updated motor installed. I was told it is stamped with an R on it. where on the motor would I look for this? thanks.

There's a circular area on the case near were the black motor stop touches. It will be stamped there if it has it (and no, I don't have photos).

When i bought my 07 800 this last summer the guy said it had the motor update. I suspected some issues with it so i brought it in. The tech said when he did a read on the computer he didnt see any motor update. what exactly does the update consist of and did they all need it? mine has almost 2,000 miles on it. If it needed it would i have already seen major defect?

ok. I checked for the motor stamp and nothing there. I looked at my uncles who had a motor put in last year and his has and E stamped on it. sounds like I still have original motor still?

Is that pad on the case where the torque stop rests against machined or just looks cast as the rest of the case? Some of the updated motors had the machined area there.

I have an 07 800 that has what appears to be a D stamped on the clutch side of the PTO jug...anyone ever seen a D there? about the same level as the motor stop but directly on the outside of the jug...i will take pictures tonight...

Yes, that is meaningless.

The R stamp is to the right and just below where the torque stop touches.
