more questions on my 01 Summit 700

I have a 2001 Summit 700 144" standard. I love everything about it, power and handling, but I want to get the rear end and running boards higher off the ground so it does better in the deep snow. I noticed when I was riding it a couple weeks ago, it would dig down to the runningboards right away and then it would have to basically push it's way through the snow, if that makes sense. I was just wondering what would be the best mod to do to it if it's suspension or different mounting brackets or what. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

A longer track !!!, or stay on the trail
Drop brackets would help but just think, it will just dig that much deeper, then hit the boards again. But then you will be messing with the geometry of the suspention, and or the approach angle, may treanch worse.

Unfortunately the 01 needs a Drop/Roll to flatten out the approach angle.

Snow Eliminators might help reduce the running board floatation.

Simmons skis will get you on plane faster.

Doo you have a full length skid plate? Reduces drag.

Ditch the sway bar, reduces drag.

Don't need shorter rails if you are adding a longer track, just take the skid and set it back towards the tail to suck up the extra track length. No point in doing the setback and keeping the same track, go to a 151 on that sled and set the skid back 3.5 inches. :D

do you need to bigger drop bracketts in the rear once you move it back and if not are bigger drop bracketts recommended

It's been awhile since I did mine, might be a little foggy. Seems I dropped the front 3/4" and the back 1 1/2" from stock (as well as the 3 1/2" setback). You will have to get a new drop bracket for the rear. Not positive, but I think the drop bracket came from Specialty Sleds. This is one of the best mods you can do for a 99-01 ZX. You will also have to reinforce the front mount on the outside of the tunnel. Good luck.

Ok, what exactly is a skid setback and if I would put a 151" track on it, what would be the best one and do you have to put an aftermarket tunnel on it, or can the tunnel stay stock? Also, do those drop brackets that you are talking about intern lower the rear and runningboard hight or does it all equal out in the end to be the same? I know these are probably stupid questions, but I don't know exactly how the suspension works, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I have not done this to mine yet. I'll put my 2 cents in. I plan on going to 162 from 151. The set forward 151 does a decent job in the deep snow, but like every body else I want more out of it. I measured an 03 Zx Summit and the front bolt was 3.5 inches back and 0.5 inches down from my 01. I think 01 was the last year of the forward mount, but my track measures 16 degrees for attack angle. I bought it used, but nothing appears to be changed. If you drop and roll the chaincase all the mounts have to be moved backwards to make it work. I am going to use my 151 rails and drill the holes where they need to be to fit the 162. I won't be doing this til July, but I will post how it turns out. I also plan on using 8 tooth drivers to fit a 2.25 track. Has anyone out there tried this?:face-icon-small-win

going with a longer track was the first real mod job that i'd ever done on a sled, had a friend help me out and it turned out great. pretty simple to doo. and while you have everthing torn out it is worth it to put drop brackets in like previously said. we made our own and saved money
