What are some things I can do to get more horse power in my yamaha mountain max.

They're no heavier than the stock exhaust. Plus they take you from about 114 hp to about 130. Triple pipes are the best way to wake up a 700mm. I don't think anyone will disagree with that statement.

pipes, big bore, reeds, air box mods, porting...you better be a good tuner and know what your doing if you do all those tho...you get all of these dont then do some chain case work and a track...you will have a awsom sled on your hands

Modded Maxes

Great sleds for cheap and a lot of fun!

Power:

Bender Pipes
Reed Spacers
Mad Max porting
Roller Secondary
Cold air kit

Chassis:

Tunnel with drop and roll a must
Light front end with swaybar removed and simmons skis
Viper shocks ( cheap )
Rear suspension MPI if available or a M7 Skid
159-162 track
New bars with cables and risers
hood - mountainfit
seat - boss

This will bring you in around the 435-450 mark with a solid 140-145 hp

Built a few of these this way and they still hold their own against any of the new sleds.

I ran slp pipes and attac system, ran clean all the time and very forgiving to temp. and ran spot on at all elevations. Carry extra exhaust springs and fill them with silicone to dampen vibration, make sure you carry the spring puller as well, stainless tig wire makes a excellent homemade one.

That is one sweet looking sled. Triples and a 151 will work wonders.

my mod max will run with 900 cats in even slightly firm snow. I know, I have both. I have the psi pipes and peak head.....along with all the other stuff, plus a bunch o lightweight stuff. trust me they can friggen rip.

Pipes will help alot but if money is an issue.

Gut the exhaust can. Take a sawzmeall and cut the big can in half (front to back) so you have a top and bottom half. cut all the baffles and tubes out of it. Then weld it back together. It will sound like pipes and run better. Not pipes but better.

Split the head gasket.
Gut the air box.

These are free and fairly simple add on's

Then go for reed spacers
Longer track
and pipes.
