Moose and stuck truck

We went to the Fish lake/ lake Wenatchee area Sunday and Monday. The snow was great.

Making a trip to the airport on trail 1C we came across a guy who had totally buried the front of his pickup in a snow bank on the side of the trail about a mile past the snow park area. We tried to help him get out but the sleds just didn't have the pull for it and digging would have been many hours. I think we got his number to the groomer so maybe he managed to get him out of there. Not real sure what he was doing in a truck on a closed trail...

Later Monday we were riding on 3C and I saw a horse in the middle of the path with two people waving their hands over their heads at it. Coming a bit closer I realized it was a moose getting ready to charge them. Evidently they had come across it while riding the other direction on 3C and had stopped to admire it. Our approach caused the moose to freak out because it was trapped. It finally decided to not charge either of us and went down the side hill. My first moose in real life...not sure how often you see them in Washington.

I also saw the moose on trail 2 with a calf, this was on Friday. Came across them again on Sunday. Someone needs to let Powderminer know they are guarding the wrong trail :face-icon-small-win

We rode up to a couple cows above Twisp eating along the rode. Seen them hunting in the area as well. Big animals and we kept our distance.

bet that dude in the pickup had himself a nice polished hunting rifle and some tarps under the seat.

He actually was busy building bonfire right next to his truck (about 3 feet away). Maybe he was planning to cook the dogfood he spread around his tires trying to get traction (my wife thought at first it was gravel, but no).

I wonder how many of them are over there and will the game dept. acknowledge that they are there. We have been seeing tracks off the 5A trail the last couple of years and finally saw the bull a couple of weeks ago. Pretty damn cool, wish we had a camera.

They know and moose have been coming that far south for a long time, not many but lots of reports over the years

Don't let them know we've been seeing them, they'll say the trails are the natural migratory paths and they will shut us down!:face-icon-small-win

Seen one walking down the trail on the entiat side on Saturday. Been seeing them for a few years now.
