mods on a renegade

I have a 2006 renegade x 800. it has over 5000 miles on it now but the top end was gone through before last season. i think i have a crank bearing going out so that needs attention and i am also looking for some more power. also on trips to the mountains i have been running an extention to a 144". it does ok but the attach angle is bad so it never seems to get on top of the snow. so that is my dilema, I want to keep the budget around $2000.

what would be the better choice:

SHR 840 full rebuilt, but that would cost as much as i want to spend total and then there would be no changes to the suspension.

SHR 150 kit and have the crank looked at, and find a used summit skid. this might leave me with a little extra for some other mods?

tear the engine down myself and replace the bearings, which i have never done before but i think i could figure it out. then i could buy a timbersled rear skid.

any suggestions would be great becuase i don't know which to do but i am leaning towards the 150hp kit and the summit skid. will the summit skid fit (mounting center to center distance)? also does anyone have any tips to make the SC-4 skid more powder friendly?

I would send the motor to B.J. ,because the sled is junk without a good and reliable power plant. IMO

wanna buy a full 144 summit skid with a 2 wheel kit and a 151 for it, i will make you a really nice deal, one of the linkage pieces is cracked, but im assuming you could swap that with the one from your renegade

Go Longer man... I had a 144 on my gade and had the same problem and it was a 600.. I put a 151 summit rack under it and it worked just so much better. It stayed up. I have the skid but not the sled anymore. So if ur looking for a 151 skid. Its from a 07 Summit X also have a 2" paddle track 151. It worked great for me.

I did the SHR 150 HP kit on my 03 800 zx and it was money well spent.I also put a team roller secondary on it.:beer; If I ever bought a doo again I would send it to Big John.
