I have a 2006 renegade x 800. it has over 5000 miles on it now but the top end was gone through before last season. i think i have a crank bearing going out so that needs attention and i am also looking for some more power. also on trips to the mountains i have been running an extention to a 144". it does ok but the attach angle is bad so it never seems to get on top of the snow. so that is my dilema, I want to keep the budget around $2000.
what would be the better choice:
SHR 840 full rebuilt, but that would cost as much as i want to spend total and then there would be no changes to the suspension.
SHR 150 kit and have the crank looked at, and find a used summit skid. this might leave me with a little extra for some other mods?
tear the engine down myself and replace the bearings, which i have never done before but i think i could figure it out. then i could buy a timbersled rear skid.
any suggestions would be great becuase i don't know which to do but i am leaning towards the 150hp kit and the summit skid. will the summit skid fit (mounting center to center distance)? also does anyone have any tips to make the SC-4 skid more powder friendly?
