MMax Question?

I have a question about lowering the skid. On the mmax sleds there are 2 holes for the middle skid mount (one high one low). In the rear skid mounting bracket there are also holes for adjusting it high or low. Mine is on the upper holes both on the middle and the back bracket. I have seen other guys with theirs dropped down to the lower holes, hence dropping the skid out of the tunnel. Obviously this gives a little more clearance ,but does it change your approach angle? The front mounting hole there is no adjustment. Can anyone tell me which is the better position to have it in? What advantage?
Thanks

how are you dropping your skid, your own creation, or hartmans, mpi, and on and on. most use the top hole not the bottom. mess up the hole susp. wont ride well at all. also the front hole should also be moved. i know you have to cut the black bar by the footwells. been a while though.

Do not put the suspension in the bottom holes on a MM. I know yamaha put them there but don't do it. It makes the sled trench and makes it ride horrible. Been there done that...

put it in the BOTTOM hole and DON"T look back.!!! The "trenching" they are talking about isn't as big an issue as the added clearance... The more you can keep that running board from dragging, the better the mm's are.. All 3 of ours are in the bottom hole, and have never had an issue with handeling OR trenching... and we are not little riders either...................

If you want it to float or climb,DON"T put it in the bottom hole,it doesn't transfer as well in the bottom hole. I used this same theory of set up on the RX1 and it made the RX1 work much better in the deep snow.If you lift the suspension up ( drill new holes) on the RX it works so much better it's amazing.I've done this many times and proven it many times. The "jacked up 76 Dart the 8 inch shackles" didn't work then and doesn't work now.

I tried mine both ways. Honestly, I didn't notice any difference and therefore ended up leaving it in the bottom holes. My thoughts were better clearance and kinda looked better.:)

If you are a grown man and riding in snow (off the groomed trail) put it in the bottom holes and run her at 1/2 throttle (THE LAST HALF) seriously I have 2 1997 MM700's and when I bought them the previous owners were older gentlemen mostly trail riding. I tried them at first and can honestly say I spent more time digging them out when it was in the upper holes than after moving it to the lower ones it adds clearance... period. Now the wife's we put the back one in the lower hole but left the front in the upper. I am told it is supposed to ride smoother for her as she is a hefty 120 lbs... but I can't tell.

Thanks for the input. Mine goes great the way it is but wondered if it would be better lowered. I have heard weight transfer and approach angle are more important. It would only be lowering it maybe half to 3/4 if an inch if i dropped to the lower hole. Buffet, to answer your question , it is just the stock bracket on the back skid mount. No after market bracket.
Thanks
