MM700 oil in carbs

I think I already know the answer... but... Finally pulled sleds out of storage, pulling and cleaning carbs. Got to the boy's 01 MM600 (turned into 700) and carb#1 float bowl full of oil? Carb#2 same thing, carb #3 same thing. It ran like a champ last year, and hasn't been started since.

Is the oil pump out? That was my first thought. Went over to the sled (with carbs out) and tugged on the rope a few times... yup, pure oil comeing out of fuel lines. Gotta be the oil pump? Doesn't it?

Thanks

The triples do have a one way check valve in the fuel pump for the oil. I had this on a Yamaha twin and it is due to the oil reservoir being full and no gas in the tank and lines and sitting for long periods of time will push oil through the fuel pump and fill the carbs. I purged the oil from the lines. put fresh gas in and it runs like a champ.

Who summerized when it was put away? I know some people just drain the gas and run the sled with the oil pump cable pulled wide open to lube things up for summer.

RXMAX is correct. If your oil tank is near full, and you drain your carbs and lines, the oil can gravity feed over a long period. It is best to leave the oil tank low at the end of the season. You may need to pull the carbs and spray out all the jets, especially the pilots, before adding fuel. Once lines and carbs are cleared of oil, it should start and run great.
