Mirage or Wells Cargo???

I have a Mirage. It is a 28 foot sport extreme. Have had it for two years now and love it. Put a bunch of racks and bench seats in it myself. Haul the sleds in the winter and haul Harleys and my 67 GTO in it in the summer.

I bought an Interstate last year after my two place got totaled in a rearend and am very happy with it. Its an allsport 28' model thats lowered into the wheels. Its heavy with a big beams but pulls very nice and I know cause I had it on the nastiest roads i've ever seen last year in Wyoming.Truck was sliding everywhere with the wind and ice but the trailer didnt budge. Haven't had a single issue with the trailer, even made it through a nasty hail storm this summer without a dent.
I agree with Flange The Interstate is a much better built trailer. I got a new snoextrem in 07 and my Interstate was hands down a better trailer. I may sell mine and go back to the Interstate.

I have experience with a Haulmark and now I have purchased a Wells Cargo
"Silver Sport". Aluminum frame, bonded siding (no rivets) extremely well put together. Look into a Silver Sport or go look at one in person. I think you would be pleased.

I do like the floors of some of the Mirage trailers but other than that..........they don't seem all that high of quality. Just some flashy diamond plate and paint grap:rolleyes:hics...........

Haulmark!!!!!

I have a 2002 24' Haulmark inclosed and have NEVER!!!!!! had a problem with it!!!! Speaking of paint, 3 yr. ago it got tagged by some teens and I buffed it out and u cant even tell! If you want quality trust me Haulmark is the only way to go!!!!!! I left it on the hill for 2 weeks after christmas and it snowed over 3' on the trailer and not even 1 dent in the roof! Heres a picture on Super bowl sunday last year(the day after we drove 100 miles with a giant ice cube on our roof!

I have a 07 21' Mirage. Half way through last season the paint fell off the outside and on the inside. the plywood in the floor started to seperate and now there are soft spots in it. My dealer told me to change out the floor and he would help pay for it but nothing on the paint.

Mirage has invested over $150,00.00 to improve our painting process and we do appriciate your feedback.
I would like to see a few photos of the issues that you've been having. I will do my best to get them handled for you. Feel free to call me at the factory 208-461-7776.
Thanks Curtis

My brother in law just bought himself a new Mirage trailer and was wondering how do you guys put chains on the tires? He said it looks like it's going to be a *itch. I was wondering what was the easiest way you guys do it.

Chains on trailer tires? Put them on the truck tires dude!
OR......... get more truck or less trailer.

We throw one chain on the trailer to get back down the hill lot's of time's and it's got nothing to do with the size of the truck and everything to do with keeping it on the flat part of the sidehill.I guess if you never leave the pavement you wouldn't need to know that.:beer;

Well "DUDE" in Oregon it's required to have chains on your truck "and trailer" when traveling over mountain pass's during the winter.

that's interesting. being from mn my whole life i've never heard of that before. i'm guessing there must be some size/wieght trailer that requires this or is it all trailers? do you just chain the braking axle or both?

thanks for the info.

Could also be that there are actually mountains out here in the west! I bet you could get on a step ladder and see new york from MN.

Cali requires chains on braking axle(s) when chain restrictions are in place.

Should have known, isn't that the same state that can't gas up your own rigs?
Got plenty of pass's in NW Montana, been pulling trailers over them in winter for about 35 years... never once chained up a trailer... not ever...not even a thought! Spent decades pulling trailers off pavement to.... never once! Never been a problem.

Our unload locations are usually about 20-30 miles of narrow two lane pavement then another 5-10 miles of gravel or dirt single lane roads.

Own a 2006, 27' Wells and put close to 30k on it. Love it. Use it for everything. Couldn't live without it. Almost... Just seen the new 2009, 27' Wells at the Denver Snow Show. That thing is nice.

Charmac Trailer

Picked up a 28' Charmac enclosed 2 seasons ago. Really impressed with the quality and the aluminum skin. Also it has insulation between the walls and stays warm with the Atwood Furnace. I strongly suggest running an Equalizer hitch with anything this size though.

Would $8500 for a new '08 28' Charmac with the Rocky Mountain package and aluminum wheels be a good deal? I hear a lot of people say the Charmacs are high dollar, but that's cheaper than what the other brands are wanting.

I'm not in the market, but that sounds pretty good. I'm assuming it's a steel frame trailer, but still good price.

Yep, that's a steel frame.

On a side note... does anyone know about how long a 30BTU furnace would operate with a deep cycle battery? I assume that's how everyone runs the furnace when there is no access to a 110v?? Does anyone make a setup where you mount the tank under the trailer but use radiant(sp?) heaters to eliminate the need for juice??
