Miles Driven To Go Sledding???

I live just outside of Edmonton, Alberta and sled at McKenzie, BC. About 550 miles one way. Did that trip 11 ?? times this year. No wonder I have a new Ranger 4x4.What's that roughly 12000 miles. It's an addiction. Should we start "Sledders Anonamous." LOL.:D

I feel for you guys who have to travel, I can ride right from my back door to some of the best riding in west central Idaho. If I decide to trailer it can be from 5 minutes to 30min depending on which trailhead I want to take off from. We got 430 accum inches of snow to play on this past winter. I believe almost every weekend was powder riding. Happy Days!!!!!;)

15 min to both parking lots we use in the Bigholes, hour and 15 to Jefferson. Nice and short, makes getting there when it dumps easy, burn a tank of gas and still make it back for afternoon classes.:D Ill feel sorry for your MN boys I ve made the drive from MN to ID 4 times in the summer and that has got to blow in the winter with ice on the roads, and a 4 place enclosed.

ahh dont fell bad for us....I feel blessed that we are far enought west where you can get to the mountains in less than a day. I feel bad for all the folks that live in the east coast....because when there is no snow.....that means there is no snow......there is none of this pack up the sleds and 12 hours later be at the bighorn mountains business:eek:

We've talked about moving but love where we are. Family, 10,000 lakes, 4 seasons, close to Canadian walleye fishing. Decided (at this point) I just need to work harder to make more trips:D. 1 week a month is next years goal. Will have 25+ days of solid riding out west after next weekend. If I lived there and was able to ride every wknd, which wouldn't happen with 3 kids, that would be 3-4 mos.

You lucky SOB!

we made 2 togwotee trips each at 800 miles one way. it usually takes us 14 hours or so to get there and we normally drive all night so we can ride right at the break of dawn.

the snow was good in wash this year . only took 2 trips out. 1 to newdenver b.c. 900 mi rnd trip, in march lolo pass 2 days and jackson alpine thayne and afton. 3 days riding. 2400 mi rnd trip . bought my new rig in oct. 12500. on the odometer 10000. are sled miles. still not quite done riding theres alot of slush to sling out there.who knows there mite enough snow on(fantasy island) till july. great season.

Moved west from Minnesota five years ago. Now I have awesome sledding 15 miles in either direction, with 30-40 mile trips either way adding even more awesome areas. The lakes were nice, the mountains much better:) The weather here beats the tar out of MN too, it is either sunny or snowing in the winter, no humidity or bugs in the summer. Wish I could catch fresh walleye but the trade-off was worth it. Its easy to get family to visit you in the mountains too.

Oh yeah, rode all day yesterday too, still a good 10 ft base up there. We will be riding at least another month:beer;

1100 miles each way, door to door.

I'd love to move out west, but steady employement and real estate prices scare me.

Man I hope the hills continue to get more & more snow every year, so you guys from Utah & Colorado have to drive here to ride! :face-icon-small-win

We ussually go to the Ears, Snowies or Togwatee and they are about 8 hrs each way. When the Big Horns get snow, we hit that. They're about 5 hrs each way.

Sucks to drive 16 hrs total drive time for 10 hrs total sled time!!

It can be worth it tho, when the snow is EPIC!!

just under 2,400 miles round trip from the twin cities to Island Park, ID........

Just under 18 hours one way........

Well worth the trip.......

Drive between 50-100 miles (1-2 hours) one way, which adds up to more miles than i put on the sled. Fortunately, I have a friend who just finished his house near Rabbit Ears. You can ride from his front door. Hopefully his wife isnt sick of me yet.

The last 5 yrs, I've been driving anywhere from 3 to 12hrs (more if I went to the Snowies or Towotee:() for ANY riding! (Living in Phx and Albq will do that)
Now........................15min to 2hrs from the best CO has to offer!!:D

Made 4 trips this year - Tog, West/IP, Horns, Cooke. The Horns are the closest and they are about 1100 round trip. Togwotee was the furthest and about 1900 round trip (yea the drive sucks). We usually ride 3 or 4 days and head back home.

I told my wife if we ever move it will be west!!!! She wants beach vacations and I could care less. I'm much happier riding in the mtns than sitting on a beach.

the longest 55 miles round trip (did that 8 times this yr)

the shortest 12 miles round trip (twice this yr)

464 miles on the dodge

500 on the sled, living here there just isn't any need to drive or ride very far to have a blast every time out

miles

Ramona, SD. Usually travel about 600-950 one way. Also can be measured in number of movies. We'll be there in 5 movies! Portable DVD's are great!!! Drive fast take chances!
