I'm finally taking a holiday and considering Mexico for the first time. Any suggestions on what area to stay at? Looking for an all inclusive. Would rather go to Maui but can't find much of a deal right now.

Looking for an all inclusive.
I agree on the Cabo issue. It's nice for a day trip or an overnighter(just so you can go to Cabo Wabo for the night). San Jose is a nice clean city but i've never stayed there. I stay at a little fishing village about 40 miles north of Cabo called Los Barriles. But it's a fishing destination so you prolly wouldn't want to go there for just a vacation. No night life either. The town has only about 5000 people tops & only one paved street & the few bars they have shut down at 10 or so. Cabo is just too americanized.I've been to Mexico several times and stayed at several 5 star resorts.
Took the wife to Maui this year and stayed at the Marriot Kanapali.
Not only is Maui less expensive than Mexico (mexico is a tourist trap) you can eat anywhere, the locals are happy to have you visiting, no polution, dozens of activities, it was alot of fun.
Suggestions for Mexico:
We hate Cabo, but love San Jose which is 17 miles N of Cabo. I've stayed in the Westin which is between Cabo, and San Jose (very nice place to stay) and at the Grand Mayan which is in San Jose. There are a few good restaraunts in San Jose, and a few in Cabo, however the menu prices are high, and like I said they are good, but not anything special just overpriced.
I've been all over Mexico, and you leave with the feeling that the locals did just enough to get you to spend your money. When you leave Maui or any of the other HI Islands, you get the feeling that the locals went above and beyond to give you a nice vacation.
