Textaline is the actual material, but I am using a thinner type fabric that stretches and it is lighter than the textaline and wayyyyy cheaper. You might have to experiment with some other types, don't get anything that will shrink when it gets too close to the pipes, thats about the biggest problem.

I'm using a strechy nylon material right now. I think its 80% nylon and 20% rayon? Its a little thinner than I would like but it keeps the snow off and lets the air in. It doesn't seem to shrink unless it touches the pipes directly, so far it has been good. I'm building another hood for my other sled, when I go to the fabric store and get more I can get you the name of it. I forget all the ones that I tried, but polyester comes to mind as the one that shrinks when it gets too hot (without actually touching anything hot).

I just bought it at the local fabric store. You can get a whole bunch of kinds of fabric and try out several different ones really cheap, usually they are $5-10 per square meter (about 3ft by 3ft) so 1.25 meters covers my hood. I just use button snaps to hold the fabric on so I can take if off quickly if I want and stick it in my backpack, folds up to about fist size. You can use velcro to hold it on too. Textaline has to be glued on and isn't as flexible IMO. You can see my mesh hood, just view my profile.
