MCX boost fluctuation on 08 Nytro

2008 Nytro with MCX was having a little boost fluctuation issue this weekend.

Would run 16 then drop to 5 for a few seconds then back to 16 etc.

Once in a while it would hang at 5-6 and not go above that.

Anyone have a thought on this?

Did you check your intake? When I was riding in about 7 feet of fresh pow a couple of weeks ago the intake kept getting clogged with snow and ice and was only getting about 6-8 pounds of boost. When I cleared it off I went back to 15 pounds.

are you guys raising the intake hose up outta the snow? Dayco 70921 hose is what you need...it come extra long and you can cut it to what ever length you need.

I cleaned off the intake and it seemed like it helped but a couple times it didn't seem to be plugged.

I have the intake on a 45 degree hose.

Are you still running the MCX electronic boost controller? Is it exposed to the snow and ice?? Needs to be covered up so it cant freeze up.

Aftermarket (the brand escapes me) boost controller. I was wondering if it might be freezing up also.

It is mounted next to the air intake.

I guess I should mount it next to the exhaust to prevent this in the future.

Then I would probably just cook it, LOL.

this is where my boost controller is.. it is a powderlites turbo but right by the exhaust . i have never had it freeze up there.

Check you 3 into 1 pipe for cracks

How would that cause fluctuation?

Where do they typically crack, top or bottom?

I REALLY don't want to pull the tank.

Its really no big issue to pull the tank, i´d say you do it in less than 30 minutes on a stocker-ie: stock seat, not stock engine
(If you havent done it before you may add maybe another 30 minutes, but once you figured it out its easely done!)

If the header was cracked it wont build more boost....mine has been cracked and I didnt even know until I had stuff apart for a peek (still held boost level fine). The header will crack and if you havent ever checked it you should. But I still think its your boost controller for sure.

All I gota say is, LUCKY!!!! it has flurried out onl a couple times....
