mccall 4m ride

If you plan the forum ride around an event like a burger feed or gathering at the lake then you will draw attention and you'll have to jump through a bunch of hoops. Keep it simple like years past when the first forum ride was up there. Possibly rent the Golf Course Club House for a dinner one night and setup times and places to meet either in the parking lots or dedicated locations on the hill. If you're going to get local sponsors to help, use the assistance toward maps and or dinner one night.
Too bad it's turned into the Idaho forum ride and not a total forum ride like the first ones. People use to travel from all areas of the west coast the first couple years.

i'm only a few hours away and will come to whatever date is decided. i like the simple idea, just a central meeting spot, people can go their seperate ways or not and go ride specific spots.

Yha, I like that too. We all "just happen to run into each other" right here in this big old bowl.

it is a long long story, but as a guess on my part anything planned for being in the payette drainage will be a better deal then something planned in the salmon river drainage.

i'm pretty sure duck lake and assoc cabin are on the salmon drainage..........

goose lake would be easy, especially below the high water mark.

brundage res is even easier, especially below high water mark where the ride last year was. and, the brundage res is right next to a bathroom.

hint.

hint.

WTF drainages! what are you talking about, As for drainages lets clear this up a bit. NONE of the areas you mentioned drain into the Payette drainage, Brundage res drains into the salmon drainage via goose creek, Fisher creek drains into brundage res which drains into goose creek which drains into the salmon drainage goose lake drains into goose creek which drains into the salmon river drainage, duck lake drains into the hard creek drainage which drains into the salmon river drainage. Nothing drains into the Payette until one starts breaking off into the Mccall side of brundage and further north up towards the Granite lake coppit creek areas. I wouldn't worry about what drainage you are in when planning this gathering. Doug does make one good point though "REST ROOMS" Where ever you plan on having a meeting place should include fairly close access to a rest room.

We have a forum ride damn near every day in McCall. You'll recognize it from the 40 or 50 Polaris IQ RAWs from Carl's heading out from an un-specified for legal reasons Lick Creek caravan or often from FW parking lot. Normally a wild cat on nip herding excercise....sounds like you are getting into something even more challenging!

Back in the day we organized a pretty darn good bunch of forum events mostly around one or two big dinner, drinks, and dancing type get togethers with riding opportunities seperated as opposed to trying to make it a "ride" get together or in the field meeting. (that was kind of advise oriented:D) Anyhow you build it...we'll probably come. (obviously depends on the day..but I'm usually game and by I that probably means another 20 to 40)

Keep us posted.

Talked with the F.S today and heres the scoop. non commercial events under 75 people do not need a permit as long as no one is charged to be in the event. over 75 people requires an permit however they said thats no big deal. Contact Gary Elliot or Sue Dixon at 208-634-0400 if you have questions. Winter Rec Meeting are in full swing, short version is no changes for this winter. I have a ton of upcoming information and i will try to post it soon.

Dang Scot now we have to get a permit just for our daily rides;)! Looks like I'll have to quit charging for the pleasure of my company. Does that include trade-outs:beer;:beer;:beer;:beer;?

Good news Rob the permit is only for an organized function. So I'm sure your ride falls outside of the term organized. Its more like hare and hound. a 4M ride is no big deal if some wants to rangle the event I will make the connection with the F.S.

i like the just show up at xxxxx location and if a bbq breaks out then i'll eat. last i checked the fs doesn't use the 4m?:beer;
besides i don't want all you powderhounds to find the secrete spots!!

Don't bet on that moco. I had a FS guy repeat something I said once. They read this site. At least, when there's drama in the forest.

Sounds like your set acs47x, FatRunt's the man to make it all legal, with little fuss.

FBomb group could definitely use the Not Organized defense. I've heard stories of a herder and a passel of cats.

Okay - lots of rumbling on here....is there a date nailed down yet???? We are planning a sled "tour" in March and will be hooking with as many 4M peeps as we can. Just aren't sure of our destinations yet.

wow Fatrunt,

THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!

Scot has spent a LOT of time over the past many years fighting quietly for our sledding in the McCall area.
For sure he is one of the strongest voices up there, and I'm thankful for his help.

In the past I got a different answer from the FS folks, but Scot has the clout and the knowledge and the contacts to where his answer is the right one, and I was mistaken.

Sorry for misleading folks, and I hope everyone has a great time!!!

Ttt!!!

What happened to this party?, this thread got colder than the temps in N. Idaho. Is it gonna happen?, anyone decide a date? I'm still hoping to use it as an excuse to get out of town.

Well Scot that is good news! "Organized" like the current government of Somalia. The only thing we can get right and on time is Chilli Bomb Alley at Lardo's post riding. For some strange reason that part of our functions always goes magically "SMOOTH".

Actually organizing something organized is a lot of hard thankless work put forth for the many and propagated by the VERY FEW (while the many *****).

I 100% know that the business' around McCall would appreciate any effort and extra people that you will bring to town. Motorized haters are even starting to get hungry enough up there to finally STFU. (I'm not talking about the scroungy dude driving around flipping everyone off from his old suburu..haven't seen him in a while...thinks the gov got him in a meth sting...talking about the general public and local biz owners) Funny how an empty wallet and a hungry family makes you a bit easier to get along with. McCall is a wonderful place with some of the best amenities anywhere. Make this happen and we will join you in force and have a great great time. Plus do a little something possitive for the economy of McCall.
