Hey guys (and gals),
My riding bud moved, so I am looking for guys to ride with for the 2012-13 season here in McCall. I know the area fairly well now after two winters here. Will be riding a 2013 163 Pro and a 2013 IQR 144 race sled for the lower snow/spring days. Buying two new sleds I need to be sure to get my use out of them this year. Wife may be riding here and there also, she is pure novice so if anyone out there needs to bring a newbie wifey along, that is cool too, lol.
Chris

I get up to McCall quite often throughout the winter. I am from the Meridian area. It would be nice to ride with you all sometime. I am always looking for new buds to ride with and new areas to check out. PM me contact info if you are interested.

Cheers!

Perfect! I committed to those new sleds right before I found out my bud was moving, we were going 2 or more times a week. Need to use them suckas!

I ride with my son and nephew. We want to come and ride McCall this year for 3-4 days. Would you be willing to "guide" us around and show us the area. We are all fairly new but get around pretty good in the mountains, have avy gear and training, like to have fun and explore new places. If you ever wanted to come to Washington and ride we could show you Mt Baker, Salmon la Sac etc in return.

If only I was closer! I have been bouncing the idea to my wife about moving to McCall or Cascade area. My wife is a flat land novice. Heck...I would be a mtn newbie. Maybe someday I'll pull the trigger and move. Anyone have a VOIP telecom job for me out there?

My wife is 110% snogo novice, I had minimal mountain experience before moving here two years ago. Lots of river running/cross country experience though from Alaska. Cable One is supposed to be expanding (promised phone service two years ago that never happened) but it is tough here as far as jobs.

Oh yah. Cable One, Frontier is here. McCall is a normal town, just really small as far as year round population and most small businesses don't make it. I don't depend on local business so I do fine, same with a buddy that lives here, he actually has an international business that is doing great.

Cascade is even smaller. (I think.) McCall has a little over 3000 year round residents, but weekends in the summer get ridiculous, tens of thousands of people. Have to avoid downtown on a lot of weekends if you want to go anywhere.
Not super impressed with the elementary school here, but have heard fantastic things about the Donnelly school. (In between Cascade and McCall.) We would like to move to Donnelly, get out of the idiot touristy area during the summer and Donnelly housing is much cheaper. There is a housing area down there where the houses are all pretty much the same floorplans, but 3 bed 2 bath with garage rent for $500-$600.

My wife's salon looses money most months, it does well in the summer when the snowbirds are here. It is getting better, hopefully by next year it will hold it's own. She opened it 1.5 years ago, in a spot where there had been a salon for 17 years. She has the best location in town probably, but there just aren't enough local people to support local businesses. (Plus last count there were 7-9 salons in town.) Not great planning on her part, lol.

i lived in Donnelly for a couple years during the Tamarack boom. actually worked on the cascade school for a remodel. great place to live if there's work.

a buddy and i try to ride a few times a years depending on where the snow is good at. i'll try to keep this thread in mind when the snow files and hit you up.

congrats on the iqr, i sure miss mine, they are a blast!

Right on, I heard things were good before the crash and everyone lost their rears with unpaid construction bills down there. Hit me up!

Join the snowmobile club/association. Probably the quickest and best way to find locals to ride with.

My son and I may be coming down sometime this winter during midweek and would be really grateful to have a local show us around. We were down last year with some friends from northern Idaho and we had a good time but they didn't know the area as well as they thought they did. We are both intermediate level riders and as I get older I get more conservative so it wouldn't have to be super challenging terrain, just good, safe fun.

Let me know when you are coming! Must not be just me then, but everything to the north of the lake coinfuses me even after riding here for two years, lol. Lots of roads that all head the same way with similar terrain between them. Brundage, Warren Wagon, where Brundage splits at the reservoir and heads left to Goose/right around the reservoir, and Lick Creek. And you can get to all of them from any of them, I don't know how many times we left trucks at one area and ended up at another, thinking of how to get the wives to go get the rigs and bring them over, lol.

will ride im there 5 days a week!

Hit me up, I have got to use these sleds this year. Scrambling now to come up with the cash for them, lol.
Funny thing, first time in 20+ years I don't own a personal sled, but my wife has onn sitting in the 4-place, lol.
25th is the date I was told to pick up my IQR, get the Pro asap after that.
