yeah too bad...
The popular vote would keep the establishment from always having a candidate they are comfortable with in office.

This is why they created the electoral college...so they could always get their man.

Dont we hear enough political garbage on TV!! Now we have start threads about politics on snowest!! What is this, CNN?

Here we give you the option to click on it and read it, CNN doesn't. When you click on a thread called McCain, common sense should tell you its going to be something political. But thanks for clicking and complaining, I guess that's what America is all about, right?

Done....too bad the popular vote means nothing.

WBrew yes it does, up to the state level at least, you have to help your candidate win your states votes.

BDude its not like they just choose the winner on a whim. Its just the national popular vote that doesnt count. Its a system that allows those of us in smaller states like the Dakotas, Montana, etc to have a voice. Otherwise the East and West Coasts would elect our presidents.

"The United States is the only current example of an indirectly elected executive president, with an electoral college made up of electors representing the 50 states and one federal district. Each state has a number of electors equal to its total Congressional representation (in both houses), with the non-state District of Columbia receiving three electors and other non-state territories having no electors. The electors generally cast their votes for the winner of the popular vote in their respective states, but are not required by law to do so."
