I assume you're talking about Maui Revealed, The Ultimate Guide Book by Andrew Doughty and Harriett Friedman. Excellent guide book and they have written similar books for most of the major Islands, it's a must have for first timers. We experienced a lot of things that we would have never known about without it. You have to love book that tells you to keep an eye out for the blue naked lady or the guy with a feather stuck in his head (literally) in Paia.

We also enjoyed the road to Hana, beautiful country out there and the drive alone was a rush. There's nothing like coming face to face with a dump truck in the blind hairpin corner of a one lane road to get the adrenaline flowing.

if you drive the road to hana take food, there is a great little town just b4 you start your trip around the island, sorry not sure what it is called, but there is shop in there that packs picnic lunches for you.

also if you do decide to drive all the way around the island (rental cars not supposed to, but we did anyway).....it will remind you of central washington with a ocean next to you. if anybody has been to central washington, they will understand(brown and ugly, except for the ocean).

the best and cheapest thing to do on the island....sit on your a$$ and do nothing...it's a vacation!!!!!

It's called Paia, cute old school hippie surfer town. Willy Nelson is seen there a lot as he owns one of the bars there.

Dont get sucked into the "before sun up bike ride down from Halekala"

The morning started out at about 30 degrees and you ride your bike for miles without having to pedal.

We absolutely froze our NADS off!

Take a car up there and see the sights instead............
