I usually stay at a friends house in Mammoth for sledding.

Well house its rented so hotel time !!!

Should I look for a place in Lee Vining ... June Lake ... Mammoth or down to BISHOP?

i would suggest closest to sonora pass. I havent done much riding around mammoth but I know sonora has at least 10 feet of fresh snow. mammoth is 45 min south of sonora, bishop about 1.5 hrs. lee vining maybe 30 min

I'm riding with children age 10 to 14 but I think they would have a great time in SONORA but I would be digging them out all day !

Town of Mammoth has 116" since NEW YEARS ... This is the front door of a house near the closed McDonalds.

Staying in Lee Vining for 88 bucks a day ... 2 queen beds

Bridgeport was $70 a night for 4 person cabin full kitchen and Mammoth was at a minimum $160 for one bed

Bishop was 80 to 135

Stayed in Lee Vining ..

15 miles from JUNE / Bald mtn trail head 25 miles from unload in MAMMOTH

Ate at NICELYS ... great place to eat !

Fueled up on sled at June Lake turnoff 385 gal vs 269 in BISHOP

Rode mostly EAST of 395 in 3-8 feet of heavy snow ... Best snow I ever rode on the East side ... Been going there since the 80's

Maybe saw a dozen riders all day each of the days we rode ... on the east side

Snow on west side 5 to 12 feet but only went west get fuel

Fog at night prevented night rides !!

Hey Don,

How you been? Haven't logged onto snowest in a while. Still In mammoth & still riding. If you head back up this way let me know! Glad you guys had a good time

Been up 3 times (weekends) to Mammoth for about 12 days of riding ... Each time had more fun on the EAST side of the 395. west is HEAVILY RESTRICTED and gets tracked up pretty fast.

Also the west side had us helping sledders more than riding.

Was interesting to see the hillclimbs going on in LEE VINING and TOMS Place.

Rains/snow is keeping me busy trying to keep the cabin from going bye bye.. Now I'm coaching Pony baseball !!!
