im going to upgrade to a new sled before next season and just wanted some opinions, leanin towards the xp or the yamaha, just dont know for sure yet. give me some opinions guys.

Depends what you like to do. I just bought the 09 summit xp and stock for stock I really don't think there is a sled that will pop out of the snow like it. If you want to sidehill I doubt you'll beat the arctic cat. Poo also sounds like a great boondocking sled and has a good throw around feel to it. I didn't go for the yamaha because I like playing around in the pow to much to haul around a heavy sled but turbo that sucker and your probably not gonna out climb it. I really like my doo though. Awesome stance and feel and wow does that sucker go.... Just my $0.02

If you want a fun all around sled that runs good and is a hoot to ride the XP, if you want a big hill killer the boosted yami, suprisenly the Nitro is much more nimble than I thought it was going to be. Like stated above depends on what you are looking for. After riding a turbo nitro though I would not even think about a boosted 2 stroke.

The M is a nice sled but I just don't like the feel of the M sleds at all. They feel like my wife's 02 Edge with warn out shocks.

mainly boondocking, playin in the powder, some climbs but nothing extreme and ive rode a stock nytro and they are quite nimble. but the xp does sound like an animal. and ive saw price of brand new 09's for about 7500. have never really rode the xp or an m.

I'd wait a few more days to see what Yamaha has coming out next season. There are all kinds of crazy rumours floating around lately that they're coming out with something pretty cool (factory turbo?). Until I actally see it on the Yamaha website this Tuesday (the release day), it's all just rumours. But if it's true.... I'm not sure if I would be able to resist ploping-down a deposit on one.

Otherwise, the guys above are correct, it just depends on the kind of rider you are and where and how you want to ride the sled. I'm a firm believer that you can not buy a 'bad' new sled these days. It just depends on what you want to do with it.

some climbs nothing extreme, why would you need a boosted yami? you need a light two stroke stock would be fine for you. you cant go wrong with an 09 xp, m8, d8 i have rode them all real impressive sleds but your going to have to do some clutching and tinkering with xp jets, weights, clickers and all

i have a 08 m8 and i have been on a xp. the xp handled better in powder and got on top of the snow better, but without a doubt the m8 sidehilled better. if you like to put alot of repairs on a sled then go with a m8. mine is trash and has 600 miles on it, nothing but problems. rode with a stock nitro last week and kept up to the m8 and xp very well. as long as he stayed on top of the snow it was a great sled. i am seriously considering going with a nitro next season. i have always wondered what it would be like to not have to put repairs on a sled every 100 miles. ahhhh dreams dreams dreams.......

what in the world are you talking about?? you sure your ride an m8?? you are the first person I have ever heard talking that they have had all these problems with their m8s.. xps are the ones you hear about all the time in the shop.. hmm. just a bit suspicious considering you only have 8 posts. just saying. but maybe your m8 is always broken no idea. never had a problem with my 07 unless it was cause of me nailing a rock or something.

Go with either an m8 or xp. you don't need a boosted yami and its probably too much power for you

why dont you go with the m8 or the dragon and see if you like the power anf feel of that and if its not enough then put a pump gas turbo on it. They run awsome with real great low end power! just my 2 cents

thats the last thing im going to do is put a turbo on a two stroke. then your just asking for problems. your always wrenching then. but thats just a snowmobile in general. i like how reliable the yamis are but there pigs.

we just got back from revy not to long ago.... a buddy had new nytro. and we had my M1000 and another one. and an M8 in the group... the guy that bought the nytro was so dissapointed. it was way under powered. just lose speed climbing and we could blow by his mark cat walking... if your goin nytro be preparded to have to turbo it. he sold his after three days. good luck man

I have ridden them all including the 09's except for the Dragon. In my opinion it's all about the money. If you can afford the boosted Yamaha, then to me there is nothing to consider. If anybody tells you they are too heavy, they're probably in the category of not able to justify the money off the boosted Yamaha. The power to weight ratio more than makes up for the weight alone.

If you need to keep the price to that of a stock sled then I would go with the M1000 or M8. You will not be happy with the power of the stock Yamaha once you get into some deep powder.

nothing exciting from yamaha except a 162 nytro, they need to give those a bit more power though.

This is very correct. Rode my Nytro for one year stock and it is way low on power, especially up high. Don't believe for one min. that it's a pig though. With the 153" stock suspension it is a blast to ride in powder. Track sucks though. My prefference is Nytro over XP hands down. 1,000mi on an $88 Yami belt @ 250hp+. My XP was on it's 3rd $155 belt @ 127mi. Don't think anything is different in the '09's either. I don't think it's fair to compare anyones turbo'd sled to another stocker though.

Apparently you haven't been around turbo's in the last couple years:rolleyes:pull-n-go nowdays:beer;
