M8 vs. Sno Pro vs. ETech

I rode an 11 etec yesterday and an 09 xp and the 09 I'm sorry but I hate it I can't tip it over. You guys that ride those wow I'm impressed I'd be so tired trying to throw that thing around in the trees. The 11 is a lot better but still harder to side hill then the cats and pros. My comparison of an xp would be a apex. Really hard to tip over and feel heavy but is a great highmarker. If I just liked Highmarking I'd have an xp but for best overall technical riding I'd take my cat or a pro anyway. I even told the xp guys those get up on the snow and float very well and climb damn good. But for my type of riding I'd rather sit at home then ride a xp

I like both cats and polaris and have tried getting used to the doos but to me the xps are 5 times more work boondocking then a cat or polaris. I own a 10 m8 and i hope the pro will keep up because if they do i will own one next year. I am not brand loyal but untill doo makes a true mountain sled and not a race sled with a long track i will not buy one.

I never had a problem throwing my XP (09) around.

That being said I have two rides on my Pro so far and am quite happy with handling. Now I'm just waiting for it to wake up and get that power boost everyone is talking about.

I have had alot of Skidoo's and I love my 09 XP, but I do know the cats and poo's sidehill way better, I have just been waiting for one that feels like my XP before I jump, I think the pro is there! I am not brand loyal to anything, just as long as there is a good dealer to help me out when I cant fix stuff myself, and one of our dealers in town just took over Poo this year. Going to try to bend his arm and let me take a new Poo next month on our trip, he said he would so now I am excited to try it. When I come back I will let you guys know what I think, I have all black riding gear so what's under my butt will always match. LOL

I jumped from an 09 xp to the pro this year and thought there would be a bigger learning curve. After two rides on the pro I feel right at home. Good luck.

Spend a day on the XP and you would be throwing it around like your M8. It takes time, but after aclimating to the XP they feel super. With that said, I gave up my 2010 XP because I ride several different sleds and I did not want to "learn" to ride the Cats and Poos all over again the next day.

I'll be getting a 2012 sled, time to trade in the old m7. Cat or Pro? Still not sure, my hubby's 2010 m8 sure has been a reliable and fun sled. I'm going to do another test ride on the poo's and then sit back and wait till spring. I want to see what cat comes out with, plus I would rather not have to change my avatar.

I hope that's just Sharpie cause I can't see how you could change that to saying "Poo Girl" and think you might also have trouble explaining that one :face-icon-small-sho

The M8, the Pro & the XP are all excellent sleds. I have ridden them all, and I like them all. They all have their own personalities, and drawbacks. The M8 sidehills like crazy, but the chassis is dated. The Pro looks cool, but is short on power. The E-Tec looks great, climbs & boondocks like crazy, jumps & sidehills like a dirt bike, has tons of power. Oh, I guess I was wrong on 1 point, the XP has no drawbacks. Summits rule!

Have you ridden the Pro in the deep and steep???? I bash none of the sleds, they are ALL very competent MTN. sleds. But to say the Pro is down on power tells me one has not ridden the sled where it was built to be ridden. The Mountains. Who cares what the dyno says. Ride the sled and THEN make an evaluation.

Big announcement for the 11 skuds, " we tested rigorously and studied like crazy how to make the sidehill and meadow surfing easier with an XP and came up with new for 2011 advancements. WE MADE IT 1 INCH NARROWER ". LOL. now c'mon, thats funny.

Last year the Cat section was always being viewed by more people this year Polaris is being viewed by more people and look how far down Ski Doo is. It goes to show you that everyone is curious how this new Pro is doing and it's doing more then the XP ever dreamed of, but please keep boasting about that XP I need the laugh when I log on here

I think this sophisticated 'S36" package is a band aid to the real problem. I love my XP, but Im not brand loyal. I cant wait to ride a PRO

You livE in Fu**in Minnesota! What do you know about mountain sleds?! Lemme guess you know a lot cause you come out west 2-3 times a year? Haha I'm gonna take your word right now and go buy a summit just cause your from the east makes a lot of sense. This website is called snowest not ridetrails. You and snowmobiler would have a blast riding eachother I mean xps what are we talking about again? Oh yeah mountain riding try and remember that

Its really funny that this thread even exists. I even read through it thinking I would find something useful. What was I thinking?!?!?!

Come on guys. We all know that the 11 M8 had some suspension adjustments done to make it handle better on trails (the biggest gripe for most) and the 11 Doo was made to layover better (my biggest gripe for the XP chassis). So it comes down to comparing horsepower and now there are dyno numbers for the Pro saying over 150, so really they are all in the ballpark when it comes right down to it.

I was riding a 2010 M8 last season and loved it. Honestly I was hard pressed for a while to beleive the hype with my new RMK until I got into some really steep nasty terrain and I did sidehill and uphill/downhill direction changes that I NEVER could have pulled on any other sled. The reason for this is that the Pro is designed to be narrower throughout and allows it to sidehill and carve deeper than any other sled out there, period! Honestly most people aren't skilled enough riders to know the difference because this sled shines the most when being pushed to the edge of the sleds and riders capability.

Next year Cat will have the king of the hill, then for 2013 Doo will make a new chassis and be the big dog. For now Poo gets its time on the top.

Oh and by the way, the second day I rode my sled I nailed a buried solid object that threw me over the bars, it bent my lower A arm to holy hell, 200 bucks and a couple beers later and the sled is good as new. My buddy on an XP did the same thing last year and broke his nun in 2 places and twisted his chassis so bad that his ring gear on his primary clutch was rubbing on his chassis.

Hmmm M8Chris... I wonder if you know where these sleds are made?...

Everyone with the exception of yamaha is manufactured in the EAST!....
I am willing to bet that a few of the designers and some of the testers are from the east like F###ing Minnesota!...

Really I had no idea(sarcasm) they're made in the east but tested in the west. Which they don't ride 1-2 times a year. Just think it's funny ski doo guys can't See pros and cons of every sled. I've given my opinions. Like I hate my m8 on the trail wish I had an xp for that or an xp for highmarking they float great. Read my previous posts. I don't just go well they're good but cat makes the best if you don't ride a cat just stay on your 120 kiddy sleds. Sorry if I made someone angry or sad:(
