M8 vs. Sno Pro vs. ETech

snowmobiler is just super biased. Don't expect any solid comparisons from him.

I knew my D8 didn't compare to the XP in hillclimbing and was good boondocking but didn't measure up to the M8 power. I just liked the chassis the best of the bunch the last couple years. I can honestly say that if the Pro Ride was an AC or Ski Doo (or 2-stroke Yami) I would be on that brand. I was looking forward to AC changing their sled the last couple years but they seem to be stuck on that M chassis. My buddy just jumped from an XP and we've both said we will do it again to another brand if that is where "the sled" is at.

The power of the Pro is something to ponder. Supposedly it doesn't dyno well, but it does get up on top of the snow fast and pulls hard through the entire band. It seems to be a more efficient delivery of power than what I've ridden in the past.

the thing i hate about the pro is all of you comeing on here and saying how great it is i guess iam stuck on my old dinosaur 08 dragon. :brokenheart:

All you have to do is stand on a new pro and you can tell its going to be the ultimate tree sled. 174+boost= :face-icon-small-dis

with that whopping 143 hp,the pro makes an excellent kiddies meadow play sled after they outgrow a 120.
cats are oldschool trail sleds.
summits rule in the mountains.:)

Bwahahaha....thats some funny stuff..what you should of said is summits dont rule anymore...you really need to get out and ride with others more...and see whats really going on out on the hill..

don't be mean, maybe he can't get to the top of the hill to see what's going on.

I rode my Pro 155 and an 11 Cat 800 153 yesterday back to back. As far as I know the only thing done to the Cat was a Cutler can and SLP powder pros. To be completely honest, I had a really tough time telling a difference between the two. I could throw both sleds around with ease, the Pro might turn a tad sharper. Power wise it felt the cat had more on the top end, but the pro was better in the mid-range. I certainly didn't notice a supposed 20 horsepower difference. I know it is really going to be a tough choice when it comes down to picking one when I decide to re-up. Unfortunately, where I live, the Polaris dealer in town is not what I would call stellar. Right now I am just having fun riding a stock sled around that will do anything I want it too.

I'll be getting a 2012 sled, time to trade in the old m7. Cat or Pro? Still not sure, my hubby's 2010 m8 sure has been a reliable and fun sled. I'm going to do another test ride on the poo's and then sit back and wait till spring. I want to see what cat comes out with, plus I would rather not have to change my avatar.

Spent the day in the steep and DEEP today and the Pro had the XP covered in all situations all day long. 4 Pro's and 1 XP and XP is set up well. Same rider which owned the XP in a tough pull would go over the top on the Pro, had to turn out on the XP.

I currently ride Cats (TM8 and M1000) and I haven't rode with a non turboed M8 to compare with the Pro, but I'd be surprised if the Cat could take it. The Pro is for real. These ski doo guys need to take off the yellow glasses.

Denial is a sad thing.......I think Ski Doo has your hand in a monkey trap :) I've been blessed to wear clear glasses so that I can see which is the best sled out there and not be biased toward one manufacture. I've owned sleds from all 4 manufactures over time and I've had great results from them all. Polaris has raised the bar in 2011 and it's obvious.

I'll agree with you on the corvette comment.....so long as we're clear that the corvette you were referring to was my TM8. That poor Pro didn't stand a chance :)....But comparing the Pro to the XP is like comparing a Vette to a Mustang. Both are good sleds. The XP has just been one upped by the Pro in 2011.

ive seen opposite results.take off your poo glasses.chevettes dont beat corvettes but its ok to
dream.:)

20 HP, really? That has to be at the crank and not the track. Going over the top vs turning out early is the best dyno I've seen (I've never seen a real one).

Anyhow, enjoy your XP, let the Pro guys enjoy their Pro's and I'll enjoy the watching the debate on the snow.

I'm out.....get to go out and do some more mountain dyno testing today!! :)

One thing to take into consideration is that a lot of sleds will perform very well when they are cooled down slightly.

Also if the cooled down sled takes a run at a hill that is steep and deep and only manages a short pull (less than 20 seconds) the results will be a lot different than if you pull a long hill (one min. or more)

What I am trying to say is that some sleds that don't run effecient clutching and pipe setup will lose a lot of power in a long pull.

The long pulls will seperate the better setup sleds.

I'm a xp guy these day's. But I'll give poo credit for using teams secondary clutch. I believe this is why the pro performs so well with less pwr.I would suspect that the pro has the best stock clutching out there. good efficient clutching can make up for lower hp. The clutching on the xp's is poor and dosen't let it put its superior pwr down efficiently. Thats why I run the team on my xp. It really does transfer more pwr to the track. I have been watching the pros closely and have to admit they boondock extreemly well. XP's have got a bad rep for being over stable which 08-10 mabey compared to the M8. My new 2011 is a huge improvment over my 09 but I haven't rode the pro yet. I suspect poo made their 800 reliable. I also suspect there is mabey a killer DI engine in the works for next year? If this is true Cat and doo will be playing catchup. The truth is Cat Doo and Poo are building the best Mtn machines they have ever built. Pick your poison.

I havn't heard of any e-tec/pro rmk comparisions yet, the new e-tec suspension and engine is a totally different animal compared to the previous years. I like the looks of the pro and really would like to ride one, I hear thay are a great handling sled. Now that being said I've rode cats, and before 2011 i thought they handled way better than my XP's until I bought my e-tec and Wow what a difference. I talked to one fellow who had the oppertunity to ride a e-tec and a pro rmk for a length of time and he was a doo rider but he really likes the pro RMK, He said if felt like his 07 rev.
I had the opporunity to race up a hill against 2 2011 HCR"S (Pro riders on the 11's) and my brothers 2010 piped HCR, this was a climb till you turned out race and the e-tec went over the hill or highmarked them every time the cats had nothing to bring, And my sled had 50 miles on it. I let one of the pro riders take my sled for a pull and all he said to me when he gave it back was this thing is making power!
From what I seen Cat has some catching up to, but a new chassis next year might be the ticket. The Xp chassis Is dated and doo doesn't keep chassis any longer than 4 model years so who knows what's in store for doo next year. All the 2 stroke manf have great sleds this year, am I biased on sled comaprision Maybe a little I like My Modded 09 and love my 2011 but I almost spring checked a pro, but I havn't seen a pro in action yet, I just seen them drive around.

Caper11....I quote you "I havn't heard of any e-tec/pro rmk comparisions yet, the new e-tec suspension and engine is a totally different animal compared to the previous years..." ...well, i dont know what sort of new suspension you are talking about, but diggin out my mates E-tec yesterday, I saw nothing but torshion bar styled sprins...like seeing front-end leaf springs these days......back to the thread

The front end is new for 2011 and the rear suspension is different from 08 to 09, It is the same rear suspension as the 2010 The first time I rode my 2011 I thought it layed over to easy, it's something I'll have to get used to.

i wonder how a pro would lean over if they narrowed it to 35 inches like skidoo did
