M8 oil tank problems. Help!

The Hood lift isn't the answer if your sled will ever be upside down. It makes it cooler under the hood as advertised and it greatly reduces the surface area supporting the hood as well. This makes it more likely you will damage the hood on a roll.

Yeah your right about that one, very interested to see what the new product is. I'm goin to try to trim my neck a little and push my insert in furter, see how that works.

one other thing I did was swap the cap with the one on my 2002 for some reason it seemed a better fit, it wouldnt cross thread, this was the first problem I had w/2010, my only other problem I have is steering , it is so weak that in spring hard snow it stretches instead of turning and makes it very difficult to ride , especially on a side hill, I have no Idea how to fix it , I will put pow pros for next season, see how that does, I dont think its the column .

You can get a HCR steering tube to fix your steering problem. (this tube is from the steering post to the spindle linkage) PM Free Agent she will set you up.

The M8's steering tube is thinner than the HCR's and it will bend in heavy snow, or if the skis are wedged in the snow.

I bought the insert too and I can see I need to trim the plastic seams from both inside of the tank neck for the insert to fit. What's the most painless way to remove the plastic seams without major issues?

Heat up a large round metal rod or tube and use it to melt and "push" the interfering plastic down and out of the way of the insert-this minimizes any chance of getting cuttings or filings in your oil.
