m8 aero 66... who is running one?

You can only run 10lbs of boost on a aero 66? Any more then that and they will fall apart and not be warrantied?

We have quite a few customers running up to ~14psi on their M8's and Dragon 800's with no problems. There are many factors that go into turbo failures, cheaply built or poorly installed turbo kits are generally some of the main causes. Especially on kits that require a flange to be welded onto the stock expansion chamber. Most guys will MIG them and over time pieces of slag or wire will break away on the inside and get into the turbo. It's extremely important, on any turbo kit, to clean up that backside of that weld to ensure the life of your turbo.

So how come kawgrn lost 4 aero 66's at 14psi and they were not warrantied?

I'm not sure about his situation in particular but from the sound of it two of them were warrantied. He got his new turbos and they only lasted 100miles?? This raises some questions. Turbos don't just fail, something has to cause them to fail be it overboost, FOD, etc. Especially considering all the guys who have been running our turbos for years and haven't had a single issue.

waiting for the snow to fly so i can take my m8 66 out and see what i think.

colin, whats your turn around time on having you service a 66? just going through it and making sure all is ok type deal? how much for that service?

any guess on what it would be if i set it up to run 12lbs at 9000ft what kind of boost i will see at 2000ft, not changing any washers? what would a guy have to do to get it to 6-8lbs boost at 2000ft if its setup for 12lbs at 9k?

thanks

Typically turn around time is within a week. If we get your turbo on monday for example it would most likely be sent back to you by friday. A general tear down and inspection costs $70.

As for you boost adjustment we can do that for you as well, it's simply a matter of swapping out the spring/shims within the controller. We can do this for you and set your boost exactly where you want it if you are looking to have us inspect your turbo. We can also include the current controller parts when we return your turbo so you can swap them back in yourself later if you like.

I don't see why not. A typical external boost controller is essentially an air bleed-off. By bleeding off air it's tricking the turbo into thinking it hasn't reached full boost yet, so it will continue to build more boost. What you will need to do with a boost controller on the Aerocharger is setup the turbo for the low boost level you want to run, then use the boost controller to reach the higher boost level you want to run.

Just be sure that you don't overboost the turbo. When you first try your high boost setting adjust it in small increments until you reach the desired level, then mark it on your controller so you now where to set it.

If anyone here has one or knows of someone who has a CPC kit, I am interested in buying one. I have a 66 from my Polaris kit to use, so even if the turbo got torched I will buy your kit as long as it's one of CPC's. PM me
