M7 BOGGING PROBLEMS. How to stop it!

Our last ride I noticed my m7 was bogging like crazy! It was so consistent that I could almost call when it was going to happen. My m7 has a cuttler secondary kit, set up for a 200lbs rider. And the only other thing I have on it is a d&d can and some side vents. What could be the problem? Ive heard alot that its probley the can. What can/pipe combo will take this AWAY? I was thinking maybe a speedwerks single and a super q can. But let me know if thats a bad descision or if its good. Really could use some help. Thankyou

Did it run ok before with the can and then just started doing it, or from day 1 with the can? Or did it just do it in deep powder? I don't know much about the different cans, but I've got some experience with other things. A little more info would be good.

I know you don't want to hear this , but it seems the stock can is best on the 7............:D:D

X2

D&D y-pipe and pipe have worked well, at least I think thats what my buddie has and his rips for a m7. stock can, a different helix and thats about it.

When I had problems with my '05 M7 bogging - everyone had the answers with mod's to fix it. One person said their dealer had the ECU reflashed and it was all good after that. So I took my sled to my dealer and asked them to have the computer re-flashed. They called arctic cat and cat said that won't fix it, blah blah blah. I insisted that they do it and I would try it out and go from there. Guess what - fixed. Have never been able to duplicate that problem again three years later.

I have not ridden with the stock can on it yet but me and my dad will be riding for a half day on christmas eve so ill know then if its the can or not. Im just trying to see what can I should switch to because that stock One is heavy as a tank and sounds like crap. So if anyone knows anything about cans let me know which one is best. Thanks

my dealer took a whole pile of cans up to cooke in 05 and tried them all on a m7, he said the stock one was the best. some lost very little some wouldn't run worth a darn

my buddy used to own a 06 Crossfire 700. He had a little work done to his sled a few years back with a dyno session before and after mods and before and after a can. There is no HP lose with the BMP Bikeman can. I like the sound too. But their customers service and shipping is garbage (at least in his instance it was).

Where does the sled bog? On take off or mid range? after it sits at idle for a while or after a hard pull?

There could be a ton of reasons why you are bogging, but more info is needed. Most of the time it is setup related though. Belt deflection, belt condition, clutching setup or binding clutching from grime... Could be a lean bog or a fat bog or could be the can.

The times it boggs is when, im steadily hitting the throttle around 4500-5100 rpms and when I pin it it just boggs like crazy but if I let off and hit it again it rips.but instead of holding the throttle steady if I feathered it the bogg didnt happen when I went WOT.The only thing we have done diffrently to this sled was put a new belt on it. But how could that do anything?
Thanks for all the help.

Try a SLP can but make sure you get good seal where it leaves the sled

When my sled was bone stock, I put a SLP can on and I think it helped with the throttle response and I didn't get a bog.

need to check your belt deflection probably not taking off in the right gear you want them tight or you will get one heck of a bogg. you are catching the secondary in a spot where the motor doesn't have a enough snot to pull out of it so when you let off the clutches have synched back up and that is why it pulls hard again

X2. Set your deflection, these sleds are really finicy, at least mine seems to be.

If you insist on not running the stock can..I would get a speedwerx, HPS, or SLP!

Throttle saftey switch, simple is to just up plug it and see if thats it. I am sure cat has not changed that over the years some guys just get it to react an others never have the problem.

Is this a motor bog or secondary maybe not backshifting? I know mine felt like a bog too, I installed a shift assist and that horrible lag is gone.
