M6/M7 stock cylinder swaps

Been out of sledding for about 5 years or so, trying to get up to speed on the newer stuff. Last sled I owned was a pretty modded Polaris 800. Have a chance to pick up an '05 M6-EFI fairly cheaply.

Wondering if the M7/C7/F7 cylinders & heard are a direct swap? Poked around a bit, but didn't find any posts about using stock parts to upgrade the 600.
 
Yep probably the cheapest and most reliable big bore you'll ever do. I did my M6 using my F7 151 parts and kept the F6151 as a spare sled. So in my case it worked out really cheap. You'll need 700 pistons, cyldiners, and head. In my case I also swapped throttle bodies and ECUs making it completely stock setup. I've heard of guys running the 600 ECU and then adding a fuel controller to ad enough fuel for the 700 but I prefer the stock setup. Arctic Cat used to be willing to reprogram ECUs but I don't think they will anymore making that part a bit tougher. Pipes and cans are interchangeable there is a small HP loss like 1-2 running a 600 pipe on a 700 but minimal. You can also have a shop like BMP cut the 600 head to a 700 but usually you can find a head cheaper then modding. Hope this helps some. I ran my M7 conversion for 4yrs before trading for a 09M8.
 
speedwerx can remap the ecu if it is an 05 if its an 06 you need a controller or m7 ecu because of the pipe sensor
 
Do some mods on the 600 and it will still be fun. hi comp head, clutching, timing advance, etc and it will rock out pretty good. If you are only looking to boondock, cause it wont be setting the high mark. ecu are so expensive that i just dont know if its worth going to the 7. good luck and let us know how it turns out.
 
hi the topend off the m7 will fit right on and if you buy a bd box you can adjust the fuel and no have to reprogram the ecm

What is the difference in the throttle bodies? Was leaning towards an EFI controller anyway, so if the 600 ECU can be fattened up enough to handle the 700 setup, then I wouldn't be opposed to going that route.
 
If you are going to do all that work to switch to 700 cylinders. Maybe buying a used 800 big bore would give more bang for the buck? I know a couple guys that have bought M6s' and put big bore 800 kits in them, seemed to run pretty good.
 
Just keeping options open, usually find a way to collect parts cheaply along the way- not going to run out and buy a $2000 big bore kit.

But if I can scrounge up a set of stock 700 cylinders and a head for cheap, then I'm open to doing the work. Just needing to know what fits and what doesn't, no real experience with the lay down Cat stuff.

I am doing the m6 to m7 setup on my sled. I was able to find some re-plated cylinders. Doing SPI pistons, RKT head, Sending off ecu to local dealer. Also getting the clutching dialed in with secondary clutch from an m8 and rkt 34 degree helix. If you have any questions about how its been done feel free to pm me
