M1200 Turbo ridability

I am thinking about throwing a turbo on my M1200 but I was just wondering for the guys out there that have them. How much more fuel does it burn over the 1200 NA big bore.
How is it for riding in the trees and boondocking. I know it will flat out pull up any hill.
I ride with a varity group of guys from chutes to boondocking and I want to make sure that the sled will still be good for all around riding that we do.

If the guys with 1200 Turbos could give me some insight on this that would be great.

Thanks in advance.

Just my opinion from having one and a 1000 at the same time and for anything other than straight up full boost full power thrills, the 1000 is the better all around engine. The large exhaust port of the 1200 loses quite a bit of bottom end response. My 1200 was good and for anything other than a standstill start it was pretty responsive, however my 1000 I built after feels like a stock 1000 on the bottom and for 12 lbs and under it would keep up to my 1200 no problem. Got tired of always replacing Wisecos every 1000 or less miles and tuning more often than the 1000. Sled is currently being reborn with a new crate 1000 engine. 1200 never died but it now has a 1000 top end and is in a stock 08 M1000 I just fixed. Well over 3000 turbo miles and engine had never been out of chassis.

I like the 1200 over the 1000. make sure you deck the cylinders on the 1200 and redo the head. then rock on and never look back.

when i go out i fill sled and carry 5 gallons extra fuel and usually running on fumes by the time we are done, powers awsome twisted rg 1200,

So little bit more fuel than what i burn running the NA 1200. I fill my sled and carry 2.5 gallons and I am on fumes when i get done for the day as well.

So its still a decent sled for playing in the trees I take it. I have the 1200 already so going to a 1000 is probably out of the question.

How easy was it to get the 1200T tuned right? What octane of fuel are you needing to run in the 1200T?

Thanks again guys for all the info

Porting on N/A 1200 is different than the Turbo version. Turbo porting isn't as radical as the N/A porting. Tuning yours could be quite different. I run AV gas at 7-10 lbs and race on anything above 12.
