M1100T mods???

When I called both speed works and D & D they both claim you can run over 240 you just need to run race gas and use the stud kit. They also recommend the inner cooler up grade if your going to continue run this high for any amount of time. I know there are others that claim differently. It would be nice if Glenn could confirm what the safe parameters really are.

The problem for those of us who ride at high altitude say 7000+ the stock turbo cannot put out enough boost to make much over 220-230 regardless of fuel. I am sure there will be some high boost M sleds out there though with bigger turbos installed.
 
That's my understandings too is high elevation 220-240 mark is all the turbo can handle.
 
The 2.0 can target boost higher than the stock turbo is capable of, even at sea level. If you do this, you simply will make the max boost that the turbo can make under the conditions present. Fuel/timing maps will remain the same for the amount of boost you are actually making. In the four years we have been testing this engine/turbo combination I have never seen a turbo failure due to overspeed or overboost, and its not for lack of trying. The stock intercooler is not restrictive to the stock turbo, though there is probably some advantage to a larger, more efficient intercooler in reducingg intake temps at higher boost. Performance gains from larger intercooler with the stock turbo have been difficult to verify, so I'm not sure that it would be worth the extra weight. Adding a fan to the intercooler (stock or aftermarket cooler) has proven beneficial in mountain testing. Head studs are probably not needed for stock turbo mountain use, but can't hurt. Replace them one at a time without removing the head. Valve cover gasket is reusable, so no gaskets required.
