M1100T in DEEP powder

Went on a 3 day backcountry trip. The first day went to one of my powder stashes and found epic powder. 4-5 ft of light Wyoming talcom powder. I have never taken that big of face shots in 18 years of riding. Waves of snow over my head. Jump off your sled and you sank to your arm pits

Anyway, the M1100T did well, BUT, I had some bogging issues, especailly after taking the huge shots. Later that night I really inspected the intake and found what might have been the issue. I kept the vent on the top of of the left side clear of snow (harder than you think in that kind of powder), but I had never noticed that there were vents on that intake on the side and under it. These were jammed with snow. I think the M1100 T needs ALL of the vents clear to run right. When bogging, she felt like she wasn't breathing and this was probably it. Ran fine the next two days. Mine is stock except for a Speedwerx can.

So, the moral is, if you are in super deep powder and you start bogging, make sure the side and underneath vents are clear on the intake as well as the top one.

I was running 8 inch Sly Dogs with the Carl's cut. They did really well. I think I would have been in hell in those conditions with stock skis.

Thought Carl's cut was only done on the SLP PP had not heard of them on the Slydogs

Sly Dogs get the cut also. I know alot of guys who have done it.

To make the cut, I started with a thin cutting wheel on a air cutoff tool. I couldn't get the corners right and it was taking too damn long.

I got out my sawzall and it was perfect. Went through it like butter and made ver nice cuts. I then trimmed it up with the cutoff wheel. Still have a little grinding to do, but came out nice. Took about 30 minutes. Attached is a couple of pics.
