I need help. I can't for the life of me figure out how to dial in this M1000. I have a stock 2008 M1000 500 Miles with MBRP can. I do 95% of my riding between 9000ft - 10500ft. I can not make this thing hold a steady RPM. It is taching right now between 6800-7000. Where is this thing supposed to tach? and how do I do it? Rider weight is 230lbs with full gear. Please help! Also I just changed to the Arctic Cat recommended weights for that altitude. The Cat recommended weights are 75 gram.

stock m1000 should rev at 72-7300 so your not to far off. Does it go over 7 and then down or is allways under 7000? You might have too much weight in the primary for that elevation.

What are you running for a helix? Stock you might have to much helix for those elevations. Also try a bit stiffer finish primary spring. Will gain some RPM's. I like mine to run around 7300 and maybe hit 7400 from time to time. But NEVER get below 7300 on a climb. So IMO you are running very low on the R's.

I adjusted to the Cat recommended weights (75g) and it helped by taking the rpm on a pull in powder from 6400 to 6800. It feels like it needs to be at 7400 but I'm just not there. You can tell it is just not pulling were it should. What would you guys recommend?

i guess you should be getting some kind of error on the dash if the power valves arent opening... i would think. you could rip it on the stand and see if the valves open up while someone revs the sled.

I have a friend with a pretty dialed in 08, similar elevations (bit higher in CO in areas) runs 73 gram weight and is finally happy. 75g still a bit much.

I agree. My 08 stock 36* helix orange spring. 60/60 gearing. Liked the 73 gram weights. At those elevations and I weigh about the same with gear.

RPM's

I have an 07 and I have put a three post clutch with 80g weights, Rk Tek secondary and I got rid of the stock power valves and put the Supreme tool ones on. My sled will sit at 7540 most times unless in deep snow. The Rk Tek clutch is adjustable to chaning snow conditions. I realize the cost here to change but I couldn't be happier. The power valve change was due to a servo motor failer that prevented me from getting past 7k rpms. I ride 6-9k and weight 250lbs. I have the SLP pipe set and tried their helix and weights with terrible back shift and no gain in rpm. Good luck

What belt are you running. How many miles on sled. Your primary spring could be worn out, I change them every 500 miles. the SW green/white is a good spring also.

Thanks for the advice guys. I'll lower the weights to 70 grams and check to make sure I'm getting full throttle. I'm headed for a ride on Thursday and I'll post what happens.
