M1000 - Mag Side Cuts Out

Hey cles just got back from my ride. Turned fuel pressure down to 37 lbs and the mag side didnt cut out once on me today. Ran 1231 for a temp on my pto side and 1197 on the mag side on my longest pull. Sled ran strong!!! Going to switch out the powerclaw for sure. Noticed major issues with the belt 0627 060, lost lots of rpms and seemed to cause over fueling. Switched to the 0627 046 and got my rpm back and it cleaned right up. Riding conditions were 2ft of powder and -5 all day..............

I sent my CPU in to get the second update, which I'm starting to think was a mistake...and it won't be back until the weekend. I'll be starting from scratch again with the BD numbers so hopefully I get keep it running on two!! Glad to hear you found a cure for yours. After seeing how hot it ran stock, I'm not as chicken sh!$ to lower the numbers now.

The 060 will cause it to lose 2-300 rpms, it is a softer belt (grabs more). I would say that it can't cause overfueling. I had problems with my m1000 doing the same thing, combination of things, messed with the boondocker, messed with plugs, found a couple things. 1. my oil pump linkage wasn't shutting off with the throttle cam, it stayed open if you let off the throttle easy. If you snapped it, the oil pump cam snapped off. Have Koso EGT and the sensors are junk, but they warranty them for 3 years, had 50-120deg lower on mag side. My trouble is had too many things goin on, we have her running good now, and am heading to the hills next week!!
It still loads up while idling, i have my BD box at -01 across at 3000.
Drive you nuts when you have more than one issue going on!!

Maybe a guy should throw the 060 back on and drop primary weights down a couple grams to get the rpm back. Sled would pull like a bastage then wouldn't it? Technically?

cles did you figure it out yet

I just got my ecu back from the dealer...I got the second reflash done. I'm going to start out with 2008 BD numbers and tune from there, but not until this weekend. It's -35°C here right now. I will post what I get to work, if I get it to work!!

I played around with BD numbers today, and I can keep it running on both jugs now. I had to run a lot leaner than what SpeedWerx recommend. The PTO side still gets me nervous at around 5800 rpm...egt's climb to 1250, but the plugs look okay. At 5000 and 6500 rpm, the temps are fine but I can't add any more fuel...that's when the mag side cuts out. It would be nice if there was a 5800 rpm setting on the bd box to tune with.

Now I have to get out west to try it at elevation.

Damn, that's a fun sled. What next...airbox, skis, RKT secondary kit, head?? Does it ever end??

I didnt read all of the posts on this thread but my first inclination is the reeds, one on the mag side is cracked or worn. pain to check but that was my problem with the same symptoms you are experiencing.

Slediot,
I just cooked another 060 last night, my dealers says that the 046 is a better belt to run on them???? He says they don't make as much heat, I am going to put a flowrite in my shock tower in front of the clutch to try and cool more. I melted the rings in mine last nite as well, 3rd time clutch side has gone, I am at my wits end with this thing, Just get it all dialed in and then a bunch more of stuff, lol. I thought I had the cylinder problem figured out....

pto cutting out

I have a 06 M7(Cutler 1000,previously enjoyed)I have PTO side cutting out about 60% of the time.My BD box was kinda broke on the one side.I installed a pure logic box.It seems to run a bit better but I still have the issue.
spomey, did you have v force reeds?Did it run strong sometimes?

The 060 is a softer compound of rubber and grabs the clutches better thus robbing rpm's. But then tecnically the 046 is doing a burnout on the clutches right? Seems to be alot of science to this. If its doing a burnout then are we getting the potential out of it? I have no bogging issues with the 046 but the sled is a slob with the 060. Wheres the happy-medium with this. Should we be tuning the sleds with a 060? How is this going to affect the backshifting of the secondary? I rode my tuned m7-900 yesterday because I needed a break from tuning the m1000. Was best ride yet this year. My biggest worry was when I would have run out of gas.........

Just got the '07 M1000 put back together, new pistons and 1 renicasilled jug, $850.
Reflashed the computer at my dealer again, I seen in this thread that someone said they got the 2nd update?? I wonder if mine is the 1st update or the 2nd update, my dealer did it on the computer in his shop, I never had to send the box away. I am going to check all my BD connections and make sure that they are good. And then I will start over tuning this thing. I am going to stick with the 046 belt, my dealer said the '07's seems to run better with this belt. I am starting with the 2008 BD #'s.
I have SLP Single pipeset, BD box, Koso Pyros, 2 Florites in stock air box, Side vents and 3 tower clutch, Dalton 54-36 helix and Dalton adj wts.
I am going to put a rectangle florite above the clutch guard in the shock tower and 1 round flowrite in the shock tower below the clutch guard.
We will see what happens this time.
Sunday night I rode my '04 1M 900 until 3 in the morning, best ride I have had this year!! That thing still pulls like a beast!

If the dealer did it without sending it away, I think it's the second update. There was a date wrote on the underneath of the ECU after the first update. The dealer put a sticker on top of my ECU after the second update.

I had to go leaner than the 08 settings from 6500 rpm and down to get mine to run right. I'm running Speedwerx exhaust, and was tuning at around 1800', around 0°C.

What caused your burndown??

I wish I knew, the mag side was running FAT and would cut out and the PTO side was the one that melted, it was an all around burn, didn't seize, could have been a coolant melt, (head gasket??), but no real answer. Wasn't a lean condition, I don't believe, I ran with the same BD #'s for 2 yrs. I did let it idle for about 20mins around xmas and the temp light came on. Maybe I damaged the piston then. (had 2 beers instead of 1...lol) I took off the pipe and looked at the pistons after that and never noticed any scarring on them, but who knows?
I will post what I find after tuning this weekend.

I burned one from pinging, pretty sure it was just bad gas I got from a different place than usual.

Do you have the NOS BD box?

If so you can run a TPS wire from the servo control wire to the power valves to the NOS connector on your BD box. Then use the NOS circuit in the BD box to add the fuel when the powervalves open.

The way I understand it Arctic Cat had to run the sled very lean when the valves open to meet emission requirements. But the RPM range that they open isn't consistent. It moves around based on elevation, Temps, Throttle position etc. So tuning it out is tough.

So the guys at Boondocker are recommending using this TPS wire and the NOS control to add the fuel only when the valves open. So on the box you will have normal tuning throughout the range then ONLY add fuel when the open. Thus eliminating the lean spot and not flooding out the other areas trying to tune it out.

The other thing is to remove the Powervalves with a BDX kit or other. This would eliminate the lean spot also.

Just a thought.

Originally, is wasn't a NOS box. I sent it in back to get the programming updated and get it resealed, and it came back with NOS functions.

Do you know which wire in the NOS connector goes to the servo??

Looking at the open ends of the 10 plug. Have the rounded plugs on the left side it is the upper right plug.

Has the locking tab on the bottom.

Here is the link on the Boondocker site.
