M-8 or Dragon... which one would you buy? opinions?

Thanks everyone... the M-8 it is! Opinions mattered as I have said, no Dragons around here to ride. Dealers dont matter either. But a few post elluded to the Dragon having motor issues. That alone is enough for me. Maybe a dealer will warranty it, but at a cost of a 500mile round trip + the down time. If I was OK with "down time"... wouldnt be looking to upgrade!:D

Congrats on your pick. I would pick the same. I have an 07 M8 and my Buddy bought the 09 D8 this last year. He has the slp set-up on his and ours is stock except for clutching. In a race the lighter rider will win every time. The Dragon pulls over easier but the M has a better balance point. I think it has to do with the stand-up motor and the lay down motor center of gravity. I love the way the m side hill. Also his tunnel bent when we rode it one day and can't figure out how it bent. Must have been when he sat on it. That right there would scare me a little. Both sleds are great. I just love the reliability of the M8. JMHO:beer;

can jump from one to the other almost seamlessly, the 800 dragon engine problems are no myth...

I will be the first to admit that i am not a good tuner. however i started with 64 gram weights and ended the season with 56 gram weights and the sled still doesn't pull the rpms it should. I never did see 8300 rps all season. I don't know if i have a decompression problem or not.

I snapped exhaust valve bolts off inside the motor. the bolts would just snap and you could pull the exhaust valve right off. Of course this always happend away from the homestead. On another trip with my wife in bc, my ecu, stator went out. I would love to find someone that could just set this sled up right. The walker evan shocks are junk. The sled just never did rip the way i expected it to. MAybe i have to high of expectations. But yes in cooke the sled did do pretty good. and it seemed to go down hill from there. However every 6th ride or so the sled did ok.
I am hoping boondockers can fix it all for me. lol
