Lost Dog in Snowies

Dog saw a deer near campground at entrance to Barber Lake Rd and took off Saturday at 3 PM. He is about 50 lbs, brownish red coat, and answers to Luke. If seen call 303 621 5088. Thx for any help

Run Away Dog

Saw him Monday Morning near outhouse at Barber Lake then he took off. Hopefully he will come in when he gets hungry. K9 rescue unit is trying to trap him.

Train your dog and get a shock collar! Next time he runs, show him that it wasn't such a great idea as he's flipping you the bird and running the opposite direction. Or get a smarter dog.

I do sled. Just trying to help my father inlaw get his dog back. He wasn't sledding, just taking dog for walk. He got out of range before he could get button pushed for shock collar.

You get what you pay for when it comes to shock collars. Get a collar with a 1/2 mile radius on it (get a Dogtra or Tri-tronics....stay away from SportDog and Petsafe brands). Sounds like a good investment for a dog that likes to chase deer and run away when his name is called. ;)

I'm thinking the same thing, bunch of f'ing pricks. I lost a dog once for the same reason and it sucked. Hope you find the little guy.

Ease up sparky. I think folks may be just trying to give some tough love to the dog owner. Not sure if you know that Wyoming Statute WS:23-3-109 states that if a dog is harassing game animals the owner can be convicted of a misdemeanor and fined. Also I believe that a citizen can legally shoot said dog in defense of his livestock or game animals. Trust me, if a rancher sees your lab running one of his cows/sheep he will shoot first and ask later. So I think the advise of getting the dog in check is not and @$$Hole move. Just sayin.

The Law

As Scoutin Wyo pointed out, there are both some common sense as well as legal issues at work, but all that being said, sure hope you find the critter alive and healthy. Sh*t happens, and I'm not going to konk you over the head when you know these facts as well. Hoping the best for you, and thanks to Happy Jack for putting a positive, helpful spin on this.

For those who care, here's some of the Wyoming statute info... (note, citizens are not specified in the game animal defense, must be a peace officer, so don't get trigger happy). Let's all try to be friends with common sense, what say?

Wyoming Statutes
23-3-109. Use of dogs; dogs injuring big or trophy game animals may be killed; citation of owners of dogs harassing game animals; penalties.

Any peace officer who kills a dog pursuant to this subsection or has received a report that a dog has been killed shall file a report with his employing agency within twenty-four (24) hours of his action or of receiving a report.
(c) It is unlawful for any person to recklessly allow or direct a dog which he owns or is under his control to injure or threaten a big game animal with injury, whether or not the big game animal is actually injured by the dog, unless the dog was attempting to protect livestock or other property. A conviction under this subsection is punishable by a fine imposed for a low misdemeanor punishable as provided in W.S. 23-6-202(a)(v).

Some downright rude comments in here. :face-icon-small-fro
Boohooo....too many cry babies in here that are lookin for a reason to be offended.

Its also a thread to wake people up so that they train their dogs to not run away! What if he had been closer to a busy road and that dog took off and got ran over???? Then who is the [edited] for not taking time to train their dog? Not training your dog is just as bad as just leaving it chained to a stake in the middle of a field in my opinion.... If you are going to have your dog off its leash, it better be trained to come back when called or else you better have the right gear to make him come back (decent shock collar or tracker). Some people obviously don't have that common sense, I guess.

If you love your dog that much, TRAIN IT!! If not, chalk it up as a loss and go get another one.
