Looking to buy a rev-summit and need reliability. Which one should I get?

Looking for one thats prefferably '05 or newer. Will probably be around an 05-06 with my budget.

Which models should I avoid? I had the opportunity to buy an 05 1000 summit, but I couldnt get the cash in time. Are they alright?

Looking for something to keep up with the boss and his brand new 800 xp, or atleast stay relatively close to him!!

How are the first gen revs? Should I try and go for an xp? What year did they come out? Thanks for your guys help.

poo 900?

RT 1000?

As long as you get rid of the 900 and don't buy an RT you will notice a dramatic improvement in performance with the newer revs.

The 04 summit 800 was a good machine for me. The 06 is bit lighter with all of the bugs worked out of the design.

Night and day difference between a REV and an XP

The 03.5 REV was an evolution still in progress but coming from the 900 you may like any rev from 04-06

The XP is fun, but only if you ride in very deep snow as it does not jump or sidehill nearly as well as it's REV predecessors.

The 06 was the most complete and reliable out of the box. It was the culmination of the necessary upgrades from previous years. The 1000 Summits really never had all the bugs worked out which probably is one reason it was discontinued. A properly setup 06 800 will keep up with an XP. My 06 Summit X is still the best overall sled I've ever ridin...although I hope to alter that claim when my 09 Summit X is dailed in this year. If you can find an 06 in good condition that is a very good way to go.

agreed my dad has an 06 and its been very reliable, the only thing was a relay that went out, dealer fixed in a half hour and riding the next day
