Looking for some new riding friends

Hey everyone,

After two years, two seperate blown sleds, and several costly wrecks I sold it all. That was in '09.

Living in Ronald, its hard to ignore sledding . . . . .

Ive taken a new route this time, and hopefully learned from my former mistakes. I bought a good used sled that I think Im really going to like, and built a single sled deck. Im ready.

My problem is my friends also got out of sledding, for various reasons (baby, job transfer, job loss, and moved) so im kind of S.O.L. when it comes to riding buddies. Id really like to find some folks to ride with.

Im just an average rider. Expert on a dirt bike, but only three years on a sled. My sled isnt the latest and greatest, but its reliable. So serious boondocking would only cause me to hold you up, and I dont want to do that to anyone. Just looking to have great rides, and for myself AND my sled to come back in one piece.

Please dont razz me for this thread. I know its lame. Ive emailed two seperate clubs with no response yet. And honestly, Im being impatient because Id like to do a road ride this coming weekend.

Thanks for anything that'll help!

Not lame at all. Glad you're back sledding. Just keep watching this page and getting to know the cast of characters and start responding to people threads. Also, there are posts all the time inviting whomever wants to come at a specific place and time. Be patient. Lots of great people on here. What sled did you end up getting?

I ride yakima, ellensberg and snoqualmie areas. I will get the bike together and see if we can end up in the same area some time. Be ready though, once you try a snow bike you'll want one.

Is this the conversion thing that turns a dirtbike into a snowmobile? I saw one for my Yamaha WR250R and thought it would be interesting to try (but I think they were like $3500?)

I would love to hook up sometime and see your snowbike. My wife was interested in that too (she also rides a WR250R).

lots of good people to ride with, and we live right in the middle of great riding areas....I'm waiting for a little more snow, but when it's time let's ride. I'm sure there's some people at the 3 that are already riding.

Thanks everyone. This is encouraging.

I've ridden with the folks from Pro-Moto Billet, and they let me ride their Husaberg 650 turbo, and KX 450 snow bikes. It was great fun, but maybe another year.

I have an Apex 1000 MTX now. Laugh if you must, but for my riding it's what I wanted. Reliability was a big factor as well.

I haven't seen any sleds at #3 just yet! Soon I hope.

The area up near Lion Rock has been receiving a good amount of snow, it's pretty high? And, launching from 4000ft Blewett Pass might make a simple road ride an OK idea. Pretty curious to ride my 4 stroke sled, having never ridden one before.

Go down to Phatties Motorsports in Cle Elum, they are located behind the Amerigas building across the street from the Liquor Store. Talk to Kevin and he will be able to give you a lot of people that are willing to hook up and ride with you. He also has a snowbike in there that he just put together for himself that you can look at.

Hey dont let them discourage you about riding an Apex MTX.

I too, have one and its dead nuts reliable...never a problem.

Have I been stuck with it? Oh hell yes!! Lol...so much so that I bought a Powder Jack and mounted it on the right side of my tunnel.

It works fantastic for getting unstuck and fast.

My girlfriend rides a Polaris 700 Edge with a 151" track, we mostly trail ride at numerous different areas around the state.

Get ahold of us sometime and we'll do the same, we'd love to have you along for a good ride at a decent clip...

Advantages of an Apex:

1) press button to start vs having heart failure trying to pull start a 800cc two stroke engine cold in -20 weather.

2) you don't have to sit outside when stopping for a bite to eat after the ride because you smell so strong of oil.

3) you actually get home after the ride because your pistons didn't melt.

4) you can tow those two strokes whose pistons did melt and be smug about it.

Holy crap...I forgot where Ronald was located!

I just looked it up on google...man, you are in prime riding territory there.

We often stay at a motel in Cle Elum and make a weekend of riding in that area...Stampede Pass, Woods & Steele, etc...

Yep, we need to get together and do some riding. :yo:
