looking for help with track on assault

Just purchased a new 2010 assault and cant wait for winter. I am concerned with the hard competition track and how much ive been told it will trench in the powder. Anyone with an assault have .02 on the stock track? Should i plan on upgrading to an 5.1 series track or something else? I love sidehilling and boondocking as high as i can in the powder. thanks for your help.

If you ride the Cali concrete snow the comp track is the ticket, and it will tear it up. In fresh sugar po, the comp track does trench more than other tracks. I have a 2.5 camo ext on mine and love it!

I rode that very same sled for a couple of days in the pow at Adams "camp" in Alpine, Wyo... not ideal but that sled got me around plent good.

Pick a track for the conditions that you ride most... our Sierra Cement is a pretty good match for the Comp track about 75% of the time IMO.

Being in Cali, I would keep that track.

I have a 2009 Assault. I honestly think the length is what hurts it on the deep light powder days. I am planning on using a 5.1 155" track for the "winter" and going back to my comp track in the spring.

Here is what I did to help the Assault:
-Tighten the limiter strap all the way up, this helps with the attack angle
-Loosen your springs up on your track (reduces trenching)
-Loosen the front ski shocks

I honestly think that the shocks on the front (at least) are too stiff. I am having mine re-valved. I have also heard that you can drill a another hole for the front suspension mount for the track. I have not attempted this but I have heard it helps with the attack angle and will look into it shortly.

Being in Cali, keep that track, it should treat you nice.
