Had a little opps today and noticed a crack across the top/front and down the side of my helmet and figure it would probley be wise to get a new one. Lost the visor, and chin vent too and doubt I will be able to get parts anyway. I like the looks of the Thor, and ONE helmets, and was just wondering if anyone had one and what they thought. Also open to any others if you have any ideas. Would like to keep it in the $250-300 range though. The last one did what it was suppose to. Money well spent.

I don't have one, but looks pretty good to me.......

I am looking for a new helmet and am really digging that shift one as well, need to see one up close and see how it fits.

Like the ONE ones, their site brings you to an internet shop, most are on sale now..

Wear a Fox pro pilot now, tough to beat

Yes funny that you ask, as I wear a sixsixone. I got it last year. I'm happy with it and would recommend to any of my friends. Graphics look better in person. Get one size bigger than normal.

Sorry to thread poach, but I have a helmet question.

I currently have a lower end HJC full face helmet, I've only ever once gotten the breath deflector to work properly so nothing fogged, I'm also on my 3rd breath deflector in 1 year, and to top if off, the seal broke between the 2 layers of lenses, I got water in there the other day.

So I looked for googles to fit in there as I tried out my wife's helmet and googles... they worked better than the full face, and I didn't adjust them to fit me, just slapped them on. Some fit, but not great, the breath deflector interferes.

Sooo I was looking at the GMax Helmets, I like the closed chin design, like my HJC full face, as I find I fog more wearing a balaclava than with just a neck dickie, breath travels up the balaclava to my glasses.

My current helmet only cost $100, the GMax is $160ish, plus googles.. I'm still a novice, and I mainly trail ride. Any opinions as to what I should do, I do wear glasses. I was looking at a set of Oakley googles to got with the GMax. Or Smith or the other S name brand(can't remember, not Spy)

Thanks and sorry for the hi-jack

For 661, get one size bigger.

I've never worn a full face so I can't help you out Gold5th. I have seen the visors that are heated--maybe an option. Whatever you do, don't get a modular helmet--you will not be well liked on the here--long story.

i actually have the skidoo bv2s modular helmet. yes i live and ride in wis. but i ride in 40- [-30] temps with never a fog problem, and always a warm face and head. went to island park mountain riding last jan and it worked excellant also. other then my head sweating a little. excellant field of view.and i bought it brand new on ebay shipped to me for $240. i not sure why most mountain riders were open face with goggles. if we used them here we would have some serious frost bite on our cheeks.i used to get that ice racing all the time.

In response to the original question, the Thor and One helmets are nice. The thor fits more of a round head as compared to One which is more narrow. 661 and One are both manuf. by KBC. This is why they are more of a narrow fit, so as stated earlier, get a size bigger. http://store.bobscycle.com/browse.cfm/2,6284.html
Check out some of our closeouts if you are looking for a deal.
As far as frostbite with a moto style helmet. If you are setup with the proper breath guard this won't be an issue. The breath guard is the key as it seals the area around your nose and cheeks. The goggles seal the rest.
Gold5th, check out our closeouts. We have hjc clx-5 sapien helmets for $79.99. With goggles and breathguard it would be under $150. This is a dot and snell approved helmet.

Hmmmm... is that an open bottom or closed bottom? By that I mean, does it have the elastic fabric that goes under the chin? My HJC cs-air has it, and the Gmax one I'm looking at does. My wife's is the GMax GM46X/Y and it doesn't have the fabric thing, the one I'm looking at getting is a GM37X Derk, GMax that'll switch between a visor and a lense. GMax calles the thing I'm talking about a Chin curtain.

One industries Kombat helmet?

Do any on you wear the One Industries Kombat helmet? If so how do you like it and what googles have you found fit best with that helmet to prevent air gaps? Thanks for any info.

I've always wondered, since I dont have one, an open face helmet and goggles must have tons of air flow tot he face resulting in like sum1 said above, frozen cheeks and such. I dont ride mountians often, and usually about -20 deg C when I ride @ home. I want an open face to prevent fogging and whatnot, but my face would freeze, would it not??

I stole my wife's MX style helmet and goggles, I wore a neck dickie one time and a balaclava the other time.. I normally use my full face and my glasses or shield fog, either right away for after a little bit.

With the MX style, the goggles pretty much fillup the whole opening, the only place I was cold was on my chin from the open bottom(with the dickie) With the balaclava I wasn't cold at all, but I found everything fogged up quicker(But I didn't adjust anything for me).

I was riding in -25, -30 deg weather and booting it 60mph+ through the ditches, with the balaclava I was too warm.
