Long milage 800 CFI?

Is there anybody out there that got some truble free milage out of there 800s? All I can read about is complains to relayability and burn dows at low milage but there have to some sleds keping up? My 09 Assault has run 1700 miles and lost the Vr + Ecu two times but thats it. It know has a Slp-single with Pcv and runs strong and with no bogging what so ever.
And what about sleds with high milage, when is it time for piston change, checking crankbearings etc?

Would be nice to hear something from you with luck!

Have a 2009 163 Dragon...bought new in Oct 2010..currently has 1100 miles on it...SLP single from new...has run flawlessly except for a little burble that has developed in the last 200 miles...have used my PCV on and off, does not seem to matter...pulled EV's and Y pipe last week to check pistons and they looked like new...second year warranty runs out this Oct...will probably do the "FIX" at that point. :face-icon-small-coo:face-icon-small-coo

I have over 1400 miles on mine, all stock but the can. I have had no problems and always runs strong, I am going to tear it down this summer and check it out. from what I have seen the crank is strong, not sure on the pistons. the turbo guys are not having the problems. I would say that the multiple engine failures in the sleds are because the rider does not understand that there is a lean spot in the midrange. the others have a problem but they just put a top end on it and call it good. go figure it fails again.

I have 1800 miles mine, the 1st 1200 with out a pcv and pipe, never had trouble with the motor or anything for that matter(knock on wood), i broke one primary clutch spring and thats it, pulled the rope and ride. I will prob look at doing the fix for next season if i keep this sled. The only thing i can complain about is how my sled lost so much in value do to the bad rep the 800 CFI motors have. I have mine for sale locally and not one call,:face-icon-small-dis

Some people burn them down because they are holding the throttle in the midrange lean spot as they cruise down the trail.

It seems my sled grenaded due to an overall lean issue, Stage IV SLP flash.

Some polaris engines seem to have clearance and tolerance issues then people fix those engines with stock parts and it fails again.

why would you sell it if it's running awesome!

I have 3300 miles on an 09 D8, no issues touch wood, irridium plugs, Non ethanol plugged in, 91 octane no ethanol, April reflash which took my mpg from 12 - 14 down to about 10. She will be gone in April

2100 totally stock. Stuck mag side piston and had to replace crank bearings. Runs like a dream agian.

i made it about 6100 miles boosted ( new top ends every 2 thousand miles) before i got a bad piston and lost a skirt taking out the whole motor. still to this day have never had a voltage regulator fail on either of my sleds. my stocker has 2500 miles, bought it used with 900 and its been trouble free since day 1

I made the mistake of riding a new pro and now want one but will not be disapointed if i have to ride my assault another season, the IQR mountain conversions also kinda got my interest as well.

It seems like if your lucky and you get a "good one" they hold together pretty well. Im on the fence selling my sled but i really got the pcv set up great now and it pulls hard without any stumble at all, tried a Freeride last weekend and think my sled has a meaner engine even thou the etech really suprised me for a stocker, smooth with a great top end.
I have decided to put in a set of wiseco pistons if i keep it for a nother year or maby "the fix" but i would have to order that from over seas.
Also rember, if you have a problem its often ventilated in a forum, those who dont, really dont say anything, thats why i started this tread, to get some positive feedback!

Isnt there any 3000milers out there that can bring some feedback?

09' D8 3300 miles update done at 1200 miles. Never had DET or Ck Eng. (Knock on wood) Wires plugged in, this is the first year of ethanol blended fuel so I have been going back and forth plugged/not plugged still no det. Sometimes it gets a little hot but the mileage is horrible, wires unplugged April flash. Carls clutching. Prolly gonna keep it a season or two more so I will be getting the PMS kit over the summer to be safe or at least throw some weisco's in.

At the current time, I'm sitting at about 5700 miles post-update (granted, I'm a flatlander so a bit different world). Mine was purchased as a "leftover", so was updated from day 1. I did have issues with excessively high running temps and DET, but I put a PC5 on the sled after a few hundred miles when the first post-update re-flash failed to solve my problems. I also had to "turn up" my oil pump because oil consumption was so low it was scary. It took me a while to get the PC5 and clutching dialed in, but the end result was a good-running sled that would tolerate ethanol fuel without any ill effects, yet still run well and deliver decent fuel economy. I live near a river and my riding days would often start and end with a 10 mile run down the ice at 60-70mph - right in the midrange "death zone" so many have had problems with. Maybe my sled is the exception, but I suspect some of the reason is the time I spent making sure everything is set up the way it needs to be.
