lol careful of the lefty throttle

Had a lefty for 5 years, Never stuck. Seldom used but handy in certain locations

I think that's the whole point the lefty owners are trying to make about these.
I have NEVER had one fail either and have run them for quite a few years.
A little maintenance goes a long way.

Now if I could only figure out how to attach the Throttle Logic block to my ReV after putting the two stage throttle on it.
Not enough room between the 2 pivot points.

If you like 'em, use 'em
If you don't...don't but quit the bashing.
To each his own folks.

What's a tether? My sled doesn't even have this thing you speak of! :p

He needs to stop blaiming the lack of tether and sticking lefty and blame his riding skills....

am I the only one who noticed that the sled's original throttle was the one that was stuck wide open?

If you pause the video just right you can see that the lefty throttle cable was sticking out past the bracket that it attaches to on the right throttle.
That's the way it would be if the right throttle was pinned.

If the lefty was still pinned there would be no cable sticking out at all.
It would be tight.

Am I wrong on this?

No, you aren't wrong.
His having a lefty throttle was only a coincedence that some one blamed this on.

As for the suggestion of a tether in the Lefty packaging,
No, that would imply that the throttle causes the problems.
I'm thinking that in 99.99999% of the cases, it was operator error or improperly installed.
Normally operator error. People just need to get used to how they operate, how the feal, and where they sit in relation to the brake etc.
A tether would have prevented this, removing his lefty would not have.

The Arctic Cat part number is 4639-140. Sells for 40 bucks. Easy install.

It says its for 00-05 or something but it will work on all of them.

Thunder

I have bar mount tethers in stock for both open and closed circut systems.
$20
Just wire them up to your kill switch and you are good.

Has anyone had their TSS (throttle safety switch) save the sled in a situtation like this? Supposed to kill engine if carb slides/cable open without thumb pressure.

wouldn't be with out a lefty used it for years use to have trouble with freezing in cable housing, took off housing don't need it works fine.also use 20.00 bike brake lever

WTH, no one mentioned the commentary yet?

We will be testing the limits of these sleds! Sure did, the limit of that ski-doo was a 10" tree. Brahahahahaha!!!!:D

Just miss seeing the crash

I was with a group of guys that day that were in the same area. Some of the guys in my group had seen the wreckage. I saw the tree right after they left with the crashed Ski Doo. Very impressive!!! That was a huge tree. At the end of the video I noticed that my truck parked at the trail head had made it onto the video. Too bad that happened to you, the conditions were awesome that day. Some of the best riding I've had. :D

Had a left hand throttle on my M7 when i bought it, moisture would get in it, and it would freeze up everytime without fail. Tried greasing the lever, deicing the cable, lubing the cable, and still had troubles with it. The safety in the flipper on the cats do indeed work, if the factory throttle setup were to freeze, or bind up, but the left hand throttle setup more or less negated its proper opperation. There were a few off camber situations where the lefty was a great help, but i removed it before something like this happened.

Im curious as to what your talking about????

You mean that goofy thing that CAT tried that everyone disabled ASAP? I run DOO, and the only thing on my flipper is a heater.[/QUote

My Poo has a built in TSS, like the Cat's, that is supposed to kill engine in a non-rider induced engine rev). Sounds like Coxy's M7 has the same setup. Has anyone actually had the thing work in a situation like the treekiller crash video?

I always use the lefty .....nobody in my group had one ....now they ..ODD ;)

I was riding the power line near the house last year deep pow pow ....came back to the yard was about to turn in thru the gate and WAP !!! spun a left 360 and I was standing on the road reached over jerked the tether out and everything came to a whoa !!

wheeww !

The problem I have with the tether switches, they all seem to be rigidly mounted, I got thrown off over the bars once and my sled idled away on a gentle slope until it found a ravine to go into. I always build my own that are on about a foot long cord so if I got thrown off over the bars it would still work. However I don't use one now, I hate it when the cord gets pulled when I am going through the bush.
