local polaris dealer didnt warranty my sled and gave me a lame reason

They did not have to scope the motor. Generally the Twins will void the warranty. Some Dealers will work with you on that, but the Factory won't/doesn't have too.
They should have looked at it sooner.
Why in the world would you Line-X aany prt of your sled?

Don't you have to reflash to run twins, or some kind of fuel management box, that being the case, I don't think Polaris or any other brand is going to warranty it.

Sorry

A

A temp guage and EGT's sure would have been good money spent.

Last motor I toasted was the one before I bought a temp guage and EGT's.
Never run without them.

Some people like the look of Line X, he must be one of them since he put it on his sled. That's his choice.

EGT's are only as good as the guy doing the plug readings and piston wash and correlating it to the EGT readings.

Yeppers!! Even a single pipe with EFI's should have a plug reading/piston wash looksy. And with the gauges you will know where you are at after that without pulling plugs. A lot can mysteriously change even with the EFI things!
Got to go meet up with the fellas for a trail ride today. Will be looking at my koso A/F gauge on my stock 800 dragon go from the mid 17's @5000 rpm to 14.2 wide open.
I stay out of that 4500-5500 rpm range whenever possible!;)

iam running a fuel box and wash was fine, ive put over 400miles on it no prob i made a farly long pull on and off the throttle come back 3/4s the way down the hill to help a felow skidoo rider out lol saw him turned back up wot for about 20 yards started to run on one cylinder so i shut it off, the thing has never run hot i always pull over kick sno on the hyfaxs on my origanols by the way with 1500 miles on them just to show ya how much i pull over.

i took the sled in stock or i might as well of put a bullit proof vest on and shoot myself in the head geez:D

so you mod your stuff out, burn it down , and are pissed that polaris won't warranty it?:confused: Did you miss all the stuff you signed saying what would void your warranty? You took a chance, lost , cough up the dough and start wrenching on her.

some of you guys are missing the point and are a little too quick to bash on this guy. He said he brought his sled into the dealer in stock form. that would mean original factory single pipe was on it. they did not move his sled in a month's time. then they told him they wouldn't warranty his meltdown because the tunnel was line x'd and it must have over heated, which is bullcrap because the cpu would have shut his motor down before it ever had a chance of melting down from too hot of coolant. This is the issue, nothing to do with the fact that he had twins on it, the dealer clearly did not know that or they would have told him "no dude, your twin pipes voided your warranty" instead of "no dude, it over heated because you line x'd it" Obviously showing that they didn't even look at the thing before voiding his warranty!

No I got it, but to think that they didnt move it or atleast pop the hood in a full month and take a look is being nieve, Chances are they popped the hood saw what looked to be a sled that was set up for twins but was put back stock and denied it. Call me crazy but any places that is worth anything would be able to tell this. JMO, If I was the dealer I would prob tell him the same thing, since if you accuss him of having twins and setting it back to stock is basically calling him a liar and is tough to prove from the dealers perspective. The lineX on the tunnel? Undisbutable. So that is what they used.

local polaris dealer... 02-01-2009 08:32 PM You are a complete IDIOT!

PS. Who ever is the puzzy that can't sign your rep, grow a pair. ;)
Guessing Hooch, seems name calling is right about the same level as not having the stones to sign a neg rep.

If he is honest, the Dealer should have taken less time to tell him the status of his sled. But he has already admitted to burning down his sled, and then putting it back to stock before taking it to the Dealer. Also an overheated sled will not chunk a piston normally, it will just stick the piston. A sled that is improperly tune for conditions or has another problem will chunk a piston. If he assumes overheat and rebuilds it, there will be problems again.

What does the top of your piston look like? Were you running the recommended octane rating for those twins? Take some pictures and post, maybe we can help get you back on the mountain. Sorry to hear about your trouble, been there myself a few times. If you are running SLP pipes call them with your findings and ask appropriate questions so you are not in the same predicament later. Good luck.

i didnt deny haveing twins on wich some of you seem to forget i said it was probly my fault but when you guys who bought a sled from them and wont warranty because you put a set of bar risers on dont complain fork out the cash n start wrenching

Actually if you would read your warranty it would keep you from making dump remarks like ^^^^^ There is stuff you can do and stuff you can't do to your sled. All it seems is like you want to bash your dealer, all you say in this thread is that they denied it because of the LineX but in you other thread in the poo section you say that they told you it was for any # of reasons including the LineX.

The point is and you even it admit it, was that it was prob. your fault. Yet your title to your thread makes you look like the victim, even your posts at the begining are leaving most of the info out so it looks like you are getting screwed. When in all actuality your not.
From the 2 threads this is the info compiled. You were running twins, with a head mod, fuel controller, have linex on the tunnel, was told that you were getting dennied warranty for nurmerous reasons including the LINEX.
From that Info, you should have it denied. Ill say it again, you took a chance you lost, suck it up, pay for the new parts , and get to wrenching.

they never told me what the other reasons were he said the main reason was the line x you would be mad to dont deny it now if they come out saying can because we discoverd you had twin pipes and a fuel box on sure thats a different story if i burned it down running a stock pipe they would of blamed it on the line x i would of got burned either way i know there not going to warranty it just helping others when they go for warranty work or to purchase a new sled just a thought didnt mean to upset you so badly

Dont worry about this guy Walley he is just some internet/sledding guru that knows all and can tell if a sled was set up for twins pshh dumb, probably one of the dumbest things Ive ever heard...Plus, you mister bubblehead700 you missed the whole point of what he was posting about! So go find another thread to bash douch:D

Kurt's Polaris here in Missoula have always been real good to me with warranty work. I am sure if the dealer could get paid for the work from Polaris they would have done the work. Just my opinion however.

P.s.
I believe they might also have the internet at dealers and might also be members on this sight. So I would not be surprised if some dealers know what mods have been installed on some sleds.

took my 08 dragon 700 motor locked up iam sure its my fault pic it up yesterday said they couldnt do anything for me because i had my tunnel line x and it held in heat and thats why it blew up i just tore it apart cyl on the clutch side chunks of aluminum everywhere and cyl on pull rope side was perfect no sign of being hot no detonation no ingestion of water but the biggest problem i had was i wait little over a month for them to tell me they couldnt do it and they didnt even move it from the spot it was sitting where i left it they didnt even take the head off to look at the pistons

my dad's 900 motor locked up a month after warrenty, this was about 2 years ago or somthing and he brought it in,they tore it down, phoned him told him what was wrong....
they coverd it under warrenty but he had to pay the labour....
