Little help with a twisted 1000

I fought with this problem all last year and never got it resolved so I'm hopping some one has the answer.

I'm running the race gas setup at low boost, about 8 psi on straight 100LL.
In general the sled runs well when on the throttle and but if you make more then 1 or 2 pulls, (nothing big, just tree riding on and off throttle for 5 or more mins) the thing will die when you let off, or soon afterwards. From my understanding it has something to do with the pipe temps being too hot and it going into safety mode. I have talked to Shane several times about it but nothing has worked. Have have tried running it super rich and still the same thing. We have 3 sleds with the same setup, and all three do it to some degree, but mine is by far the worst and does it constantly(to the point that I rode alot less then normal last year cause I was sick of screwing with it.)

If no one has a fix for this then Im going to try a new box from Absolute Power out of Edmonton (box is called Boost Wurxs) they claim it will straighten every thing right out, but is kind of BS that I need to spend another 500 to get this thing to run.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I wouldnt go and drop another 500 on a different box, if the box is bitched shane should give you a new additude box, or get yours remapped for you. he should meet you some where once the snow flies and get your sled to run properly

Sound like a rich issue

I have never seen one do that but my guess is that it is fludding out just to rich. What is it like to start it when it dies?

I had the exact problem you described on my M1000 non turbo. I dicked with that damn thing for 2 years. I had the attitude box and they swore up and down it was not that. I did everything that Derek (Attitude Ind.) recommended that would prove it wasn't the box. I finally got in contact with Dobeck Performance. I sent it to them and they said mine was not the only one with this problem it was something with the mapping. They remapped it and sent it back to me. With that being said the only problem I have now is I blew up the M1000 before getting the controller back. I sold the sled so I did not got to run the new mapping. You could at least get ahold of them and quiz them up.

Its not rich, It has to to with the pipe temp sensor. If you dont let completely off you can ride all day but when you let off it will go down to one to one cylinder and idle like that. If you try to give it any throttle it bogs like its going lean. Some times you can get it to come back with the enriching switch but most times it will die. Then its a bugger to start unless you use a very specific method. I know there was a post about this at the end of last season but I got busy with spring work and didnt follow it for all that long.

Do you have a toggle switch wired into your water temp sensor? If you do, have you checked that switch and the connection to make sure they are good and have no open or short circuits? Also, are you getting any type of error message on your dash? Let me know and I will try to help.

have you tried unplugging your toggle switch from the water temp sending unit and plugging the sending unit back in direct, sometime those switches can act weird. also if you want to eliminate your pipe temp sending unit you can install a 480 ohm resister in its place. it could possibly be your attitude box, might be worth it to send it to derrick and let him check it out. who installed the turbo kit?

Yes it does have a toggle switch, I have not checked it but it does seem to be working as it should. No error messages or codes poping up. I did the install my self, along with 2 other kits. May have to try that trick with the resitor on the temp sensor.

I just re-read my orginal post and I should clairify a few things.

When I get out of the throttle it does not die instantly, In fact unless its really being a pain in the *** you can work your way through the trees or up a slope no problem, going on and off the throttle. But if you get to the top or have to turn out and let it drop to a idle for more then a few seconds it will die down and bearly idle, then when you touch the throttle again it will bog or die unless you have the switch on and then maybe you can get it to come back up to idle, but it you dont hold it at a higher idle it will die again. (kind of hard to do this while coming back down through the trees or off a big pull)

Ive had some very close calls coming down after some big pulls cause the motor died.

I remember a 1200 turbo do this

I will check and see if he got it figured out. Sounded like a heat soak to me.
