And for the record, Coffin and Sheep are NOT closed....yet, there working on it.
This whole thing started because someone said that these proposed areas for closure are tied up in court but the F.S. said they're still going to enforce it.
Legally it shouldn't even make it to court but I was hoping they'd harrass us and Rodney Kind us while we get it all on tape.
So those of you SCARED of a little ticket, don't worry about it, we'll let the guys with good lawyers deal with the F.S.

Glad you cleared that up, I thought it was all over but the shoutin'.. but I'd still cover yer bases as far as the law goes. Ther'es the outside chance they could still cite you for, well, whatever they want. Try to make sure you have a licensed guide as your leader... Just a hint.

The map below is of the Lionshead area. This is the old TP, the map I have was printed in 1999, before all this crap started. I will admit I have only ridden near Lionshead itself once or twice so I don't really know the area at all, what with great himarking and play areas closer to Bozo, well at least there was (Hyalite). I have seen a few references on this post to Sheep and Coffin mtns. and their respective lakes. From what I can tell, these locales are well within a snowmobile restricted area under the OLD TP, look for the faint white R's. You can take atv's and dirt bikes up the roads designated by the 10 inside the square, but sleds are restricted year round from riding on or off trail. I'm all for a protest to the attempted new restrictions, but riding in an already closed area will only hurt our cause, plus land us with FEDERAL fines even the best lawyers won't get rid of. The exact location of this ride must be nailed down and tripple checked against the OLD TP to make absolutely sure we know exactly where we are. The greenies will jump all over us if we screw up, they will anyways, but why give them any more ammo than we have to? Especially if news sources of any type are involved. The services of a guide from West who is very familiar with the boundaries could be invaluable.
