Lightest possible moto-x helmet ideas?

So what's wrong with the fiberglass Giro helmet? It's the same weight as the carbon but half the price.

All the helmets I'm looking at .... Troy Lee SE , Shoei VMT , M2R X3 and Fly lite are on closeout and they are selling for around $125 or less.

I think the Troy Lee and M2R are beyond ECE specs which are supposedly better than SNELL and DOT? Shoei is only DOT and SNELL certified?

What does the GIRO sell for?

What are the benefits of Arai! over these other helmets?

I really like the GIRO helmet as well. I didnt think any guys on here would wear them. good to see im not the only one. I mean, really, if your not rippin and riding in the deep stuff, whats the big deal about DOT standards and all. Hell, I've seen some mtn. bikers take some nasty nasty spills with these style helmets. more nasty than anything I've gone through in MX racing.

If you read any helmet tests out there they will come to one conclusion. Arai and Shoei are the only two helmets to buy. Find the studies done on impact ratings ect.... there are only several helmets that hold up when they apply the same pressure that could cause a life altering injury.

I would go with a troylee se helmet. It's lite. Kind of pricey but mine has held up to some good hit's. I'm looking at replacing it after my last crash.

what nit wit wears a bicycle helmet when riding a sled? please tell me that you are mentally challenged, pls advise where you ride so i can be at least 1000 miles away from you so cant see the blood spattered againt the trees.dumbass

Does Gyro support environmentalist groups? That's my biggest concern. I honestly could care less about whose helmet you buy as long as the manufacturer supports the sport. The tobe line is a snowmobile only line. Like I said support the sport and those fighting for our rights.

thank u someone who's brain has yet to be damaged by wearing a cheap helmet. i wear a shoei V moto and its the best lid I've ever had. Been knocked out in almost every helmet I've owned, including a VMT. Was knocked out in a bell moto 7r last winter from falling off a sled doubling, and knocked out wearing the shoei this summer riding FMX, jumping natural terrain. Dropped probably 20 feet head first and was only out for a second or two, delerious for a few and back up again. By far the best, my bell i'd still be out! lol. The arais have a very good rep as well. I wouldn't wear anything else other than one of these for aggressive riding, maybe a To Be, but they're pretty new and I haven't had my hands on one, not going to buy a lid without inspectiong the quality myself first hand.
Now with this neck brace thing you have one choice, leatt style or none at all. Neck rolls don't work for what we do because they align your neck and allow straight on impact easier than not having one would. impacts that transfer energy straight down your spine are the most dangerous because energy from impact cannot be absorbed by muscles and bone structures surrounding your spine, it is forced to take all of the energy. Takes something like 50% less impact to casue serious neck injury wearing one. I'm going to Leatt as soon as I can, until then I'm not wearing something that will make me more at risk.
