Liberty Groomer Off the Side Pics

I want to hear the story on this one. Anyone have any bets ..... did he feel a little tipsy and just drive off rather than rolling?

looks like someone needs another drink:D

Someone has to be a little crazy or have a six pack under the seat to groom in some of those nasty areas.:face-icon-small-win

is this a volunteer gooming operator or one performed by the USFS? do tehy reallt need help getting it out? i could possibly help with my truck if needed. not sure if it would do jack **** but might be worth a try. i hate to see the groomer just sitting there for the rest of the season.....

unless ur truck is on tracks and has a 30000lb+ winch, it would not help, that groomer weighs 10000lbs+ and has to be pulled up a good grade

like i said, d8 is the best bet, but that would ruin the riding because to walk a d8 in there, they would have to take that road down to near gravel!

if it runs, might be able to make its own road out, if there is enough snow....

I was up there today and talked to the FS guys. Story is that the groomer was cutting the road across the slide area and walked a little close to the edge. With no base, the snow collapsed under his track and caused him to go over the side. He slid and luckily stopped where it sits. They said they have a plan and it will get pulled out this week.

As we were coming down, another groomer was finishing out the slide area up to the Haney turn. He may have continued on, but I didnt see.

A decent locked up 4x4 would walk right up to it no problem...not your average full size pos. Anchor one maybe two rigs to the tree behind it and use snatch blocks. That is as long as the thing will move under its own power. It'll come out. Been wheelin a long time and competed pro unlimited class in the world rock crawl championship series a couple of years... I've seen worse. And if I've seen worse you know loggers have seen a lot worse. But I guess it's a non issue if they have a plan...

Wow! I just caught this thread - we were opening up a road in our area and part of a road broke away under us (BR2000), the cat didn't go off, but it looked very similar kind of situation. We created a huge slide below our cat. The grousers on those tracks are sideways, and without anything for the ice spikes to grip on they just slide and slide if not pointed uphill.

You could see if you could get a ski area winch cat out there for a day, and just drop the blade to block it, hook onto the BR's frame and bring it right up. Shouldn't be a problem. If you just try to climb that fresh snow without a winch, you'll just tub out the cat.

Good luck!

MD.

exactly, i could make it in there if its only a couple miles, getting it our would be interesting. glad they have a plan to rescue it.
my rig.....

All you 4x4 guys are cracking me up:D

You really think that you could pull that Snow Cat out with a 4X4:confused:

That rig is 10+ times the weight of your little 4x4's. If you could find something to anchor to and had about 10 pulleys to run the cable back and forth thru--Just maybe---but then you have the issue of getting in that far---put on tracks. Add a 40,000lbs winch:light:

And I have done my fair share of sticks and unsticks---this is not a job for a truck---LOL

You all have great intentions--But it ain't gonna work. Bummer.

No kidding..... I'll pay a thousand bucks to the guy who brings his non full-size POS up there and winches it out... LMFAO... I needed a good laugh this morning... LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

yes it was a thouhgt..... and i aggree that it wouldnt work to pull out. getting in that far however would be no problem, i have done my share of snow wheeling and going 2 miles on a road that has been groomed at one point wouldnt be bad.

just because its not a full size rig doesnt mean it wont go places.

I want to see a full-size up there and try to winch it out---That would be a good laugh as well!!!!!

With the warm up coming--it would be even more fun to watch:)

I meant to reference full-size POS... Small trucks and jeeps can make it there but thats it.... no way of winching out the groomer. A 4500 pound vehicle will only get pulled down the hill faster than the full size 9000 pound vehicle.
